I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

2) Miss Nelson is Missing

Miss Nelson Is Missing is based on the beloved books by Harry Allard, with Book, Music & Lyrics by Joan Cushing. Miss Nelson’s class is the worst behaved in the whole school. Spitballs fly across the room, paper airplanes sail every which way, and the uncontrollable children send gentle, long-suffering Miss Nelson over the edge. The students of Room 207 are in for a surprise when Miss Nelson goes missing and is replaced by Viola Swamp, a no-nonsense substitute who assigns piles of homework. The students learn lessons of appreciation and respect as they set out to find their beloved Miss Nelson … but will they ever get her back? This musical is appropriate for Grades K - 4.

3) My First Ex-Husband

My First Ex-Husband is a bold and heartfelt adaptation of true stories by the legendary Joy Behar, comedienne and co-host of “The View.” With razor-sharp wit and no filters, it explores the messy, hilarious truths of love, sex, and relationships. Whether you’re happily coupled, cautiously committed, or considering changing the locks, relationships are complicated—and universally relatable. These stories are your stories, only funnier. Behar and a cast of two other stars from theatre, television, and film join the show, bringing their unique personalities to tell these tales that may be eerily familiar.

4) The Prom

Four hilarious, self-absorbed and fading Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage. So when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the high school dance on the straight and narrow—but when one student just wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny.

5) Beneath the Ice of the Vistula

In BENEATH THE ICE OF THE VISTULA, a reclusive Jewish composer and his Polish cook form a volatile bond in the weeks leading up to the Nazi invasion, forcing them to confront art, love, and survival in a world on the brink of collapse. Set in Warsaw on the eve of World War II, the play reflects on the vanished world of pre-war European Jewish culture — its music, literature, theater, and everyday life — and on the fragile human connections that persist even as catastrophe approaches. While the historical background is grave, the play itself is not bleak; it is a declaration of life, filled with warmth, irony, tenderness, and moments of humor that affirm the resilience of the human spirit.

6) BIGFOOT!

Set in the town of Muddirt, a glow-in-the-dark oasis that exists somewhere between a chemical dump site and a nuclear power plant, BIGFOOT! is a larger-than-life musical tale of corrupt politicians, small town paranoia, and misunderstood youth. When that youth happens to be eight feet tall, innocent, and in dire need of electrolysis, it makes him more than a target. It makes him the subject of a can’t miss can’t-myth musical comedy.

New York City Center Stage 1 (131 W. 55th St.)
2/11 - 4/5
Opening Night 3/1

7) Gobstopper

Somewhere in small-town Scotland, an old man nearly chokes to death on a gobstopper, and chaos begins to unfold. Making one bad decision after another and armed with a natural knack for saying the wrong thing at precisely the worst moment, our protagonist learns that in her town, trouble doesn’t just come knocking—it kicks the door down. With sharp humour and raw honesty, Gobstopper is a punch-in-the-face tale of self-discovery, accountability and the relentless quest for redemption. This dark comedy reveals how our labels can both shape—and shatter—who we are.

10) Meat Suit, or The Shit Show of Motherhood

MEAT SUIT, or the shitshow of motherhood, written and directed by Aya Ogawa, is a gloriously genre-defying theatrical carnival that plunges audiences into the raw, hilarious chaos of being a mom. Performed by mothers for mothers, or those who love mothers, or simply those who have mothers, this play blends bouffon-inspired physicality, sharp satire, original songs, and total absurdity. Beneath the bedlam and humor, MEAT SUIT confronts a deeper theme: how every birth triggers quiet deaths—the mother’s autonomy, sense of self, and personal desire—and whether anything of the person she was survives. Come laugh, cringe, and cry through the unfiltered mess no one warned you about.

11) Night Side Songs

13) You Got Older

After losing both her job and her boyfriend (comes with the territory when you're dating your boss), an unmoored and unsettled Mae (Alia Shawkat) returns to her small Washington hometown to take care of her ailing father. When she unexpectedly meets a mysterious stranger, she has the startling realization that maybe the intimacy she’s been craving is easier with the unknown, rather than with her own family. Bl ending reality and fantasy, You Got Older reunites Obie Award winner and Pulitzer Prize finalist Clare Barron with Obie Award winner and Tony Award nominee Anne Kauffman for this tender and darkly comic play about family, illness, and cowboys — and how to remain standing when everything you know comes crashing down around you.

Initially connected by their matchmaking parents, one letter soon turns into hundreds as the unlikely pair take to each other through their witty and personal exchanges. The two dream of meeting one day, but as World War II rages on, their star-crossed connection is at risk of ending before it ever truly begins. Each of these works has a rich history, having premiered in the vibrant East Village scene, performed in intimate venues where artistic expression thrived beyond commercial expectations.

Comprising a total of nine tracks, 'Bumps in the Bathroom: and other lost shows' will be released as a waterfall album, with a new track being unveiled each week for three weeks leading up to the full album release on February 27th. The first single, Julian will drop Friday, February 6th. This innovative approach to album release allows audiences to savor the music gradually while building anticipation for the complete project. 18) Joy Machine Records Presents The King's Critique

Joy Machine Records announced that The King’s Critique: Original Concept Recording—the new musical by Nat Zegree and Eric Holmes— has been released on streaming and digital platforms.

To stream the album, visit:
www.joymachinerecords.com/artists/thekingscritique

The album features performances by Norbert Leo Butz (two-time Tony Award® winner), Marilyn Caserta (Six), Jordan Fisher (Sweeney Todd), Troy Iwata (The Daily Show), and Joy Woods (GypsyThe Notebook).

About The King’s Critique

A razor-sharp, laugh-out-loud musical comedy, The King’s Critique follows Josephine, a fearless woman who dares to change the world by becoming the first woman to take the stage. Her audacious debut detonates spectacularly, triggering a fragile, power-hungry King to throw a tantrum so epic he bans every theatre troupe in the kingdom.

Refusing to let art be silenced, Josephine joins forces with Cora, a viciously sarcastic witch, and Sebastian, a charming rogue actor, to expose the King as the pompous, clueless fraud he truly is. What begins as a theatrical takedown erupts into disguises, sword fights, tap-dancing, secret performances, and escalating chaos—culminating in Josephine disguising herself as a man to survive the madness.

As the kingdom clings to cruelty dressed up as authority, Josephine realizes the real battle isn’t just against a King—it’s against a system terrified of women, truth, and art itself. With electrifying original music, blistering wit, and unapologetic social satire, The King’s Critique is a bold, crowd-pleasing musical about power, rebellion, and the exhilarating danger of stepping into the spotlight anyway.

The Illusion

Monday, February 16 at 7:30PM

Florence Gould Theater, L'Alliance New York

55 East 59th Street, New York, NY, 10022

L’Alliance New York announces an upcoming performance of Pierre Corneille’s The Illusion, translated by Ranjit Bolt, on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 7:30PM at the Florence Gould Theater, 55 E. 59th Street, New York, NY, 10022. Tickets start at $24 and can be purchased here.

This collaboration with Red Bull Theater spotlights French playwright Pierre Corneille’s 1636 singular masterwork, L’Illusion Comique. An aging lawyer, longing for his estranged son, engages a magician to conjure scenes from the young man’s life in this meta-theatrical tale of love and regret that uniquely blends comedy and tragedy. Presented in English translation by Ranjit Bolt and directed by Mirabelle Ordinaire, this family-friendly staged reading allows a modern audience new access to Corneille’s classic, featuring Keith Hamilton Cobb, Sharlene Cruz, Russell Daniels, Christian DeMarais, Allen Gilmore, Michael Rishawn, Nik Walker, and Mia Wurgaft.

The Illusion is presented by L’Alliance New York, in partnership with Red Bull Theater.

This performance is part of Red Bull Theater’s OBIE Award-winning Revelation Reading series, which offers audiences the unique opportunity to experience rarely produced classic plays performed by the finest actors working today.

I AM CHARLIE: THE TEENAGE YEARS
10 Episode Series Launches February 14

Writer/director Marishka S. Phillips (Uptown... It's Hot, Bubbling’ Brown Sugar, Fame, The Wiz) presents I AM CHARLIE: THE TEENAGE YEARS, a scripted podcast series created to give voice to a culture and generation grappling with fear, identity, and acceptance in a complex world. This 10-episode series is co-written by Phillips and Nicolette Ellis (a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award nominee for A Doll's House, Part 2) and directed by Phillips. The inaugural episode “Allow Me to Introduce Myself” will be available on iTunes, iHeart and Spotify beginning February 14th with new episodes available bi-monthly. For more information visit www.marishkasphillips.com/i-am-charlie.

At the heart of I AM CHARLIE: THE TEENAGE YEARS is Charlene “Charlie” Reaves, a bright, curious, and courageous Jamaican-American teenager coming of age in a society—and a culture—that often condemns who she is. Through her eyes, we explore the tension between tradition and self-expression, family and individuality, shame and self-love. Her Jamaican roots run deep, but so do the expectations and taboos that surround her. As she struggles to reconcile her identity as a queer young woman with the values of her upbringing, she often feels trapped in what she calls her “dirty little secret.” Her journey is painful and beautiful -- marked by moments of heartbreak, resilience, and revelation. Through friendships, family bonds, and first loves, Charlie encounters jealousy, insecurities, and the universal growing pains of adolescence. Her story reminds us that the challenges of becoming oneself transcend ethnicity, culture, and economic background. I AM CHARLIE: THE TEENAGE YEARS promises to take listeners on an honest, heartfelt, and visceral journey—a story of identity, courage, and the unyielding pursuit of freedom to simply be.

35) PHILADELPHIA SCHOOL OF CIRCUS ARTS HOSTS FIRST-EVER ADULT CIRCUS PROM AT CIRCUS CAMPUS ON VALENTINE'S DAY

Dance and party in a welcoming and unique atmosphere, while downstairs childcare services are offered for the little ones leaving the upstairs for grown-up 21+ fun only

Tuxedos, sequins and just a hint of awkward teenage nostalgia will take center stage when the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (PSCA) hosts its first-ever Adult Circus Prom on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 7:30pm to 10:00pm, at Circus Campus. Designed for adults who never had a prom - or simply want a redo - Adult Circus Prom brings back the magic, nerves and ridiculous joy of high school prom, this time with confidence, self-assurance, circus performances and a cash bar. Hosted inside PSCA’s atmospheric campus, an old church that once served as a school, the night playfully blurs past and present, with aerial apparatuses hanging overhead, circus artists moving through the space and moments of spectacle unfolding between dances. The result is a familiar setting transformed into a celebration of who we were, who we are and how much more fun it is now. Look for two spaces for Adult Circus Prom - the main event for grown-ups 21+ under the cathedral style ceilings and circus apparatuses upstairs, and a separate supervised babysitting space for parents and caregivers to drop off their children (5 and up) in the downstairs circus space. Tickets for the Adult Circus Prom are $35 per adult or $60 per couple. Childcare services are $30, or save $5 when enrolling siblings. Tickets are on sale now at phillycircus dot com/upcoming-shows-events.
