If you can't escape to an island paradise yourself, Centenary Stage Company's current production of the musical, Escape to Margaritaville, is the next best thing. From the moment the curtain opens and you see that perfectly recreated tropical setting, you're immediately whisked away from the everyday world by this lighthearted musical. The show is built around a repertoire of Jimmy Buffett songs. Accordingly, you'll get to hear such favorites as "Cheesburger in Paradise, "Come Monday", "Fins", and of course, "Margaritaville."
Fans of romance will get plenty in this show. The central unlikely romance is between Tully, an island singer with a reputation as a playboy, and Rachel, a driven scientist consumed by her work. However, there are two other couples as well. The secondary couple, Tammy and Brick, share a good sense of humor and a particular affinity for puns, but her engagement to another man is standing in their way. The third couple, who may be the unlikeliest couple of all, don't get together until late in the show.
Lenessa Age is a standout in the role of Rachel, and she has a beautiful voice. Unfortunately, Cody Jackson as her paramour, Tully, is a little too understated in the role, so their romance isn't as exciting as it could be. Julie Galorenzo and James Gerard are adorable as Tammy and Brick, and the two share a sweet chemistry. The energetic ensemble joyfully and enthusiastically sings and dances their way through the show. Sometimes, it's hard to tell who is having more fun, the ebullient cast or the eager audience. The show seems equally satisfying for both.

You might have named the third couple, one of whom was on the First National Broadway Tour Mommy!
