I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Wonderland Curious Nature

We were given complimentary tickets to Wonderland Curious Nature for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Wonderland Curious Nature

Where: New York Botanical Garden
             2900 Southern Blvd.
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

When: Through October 27, 2024

Wonderland Curious Nature is an exhibit celebrating everything to do with the beloved classic books, Alice in Wonderland and its sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass.  It is quite extensive and spreads throughout the grounds of the Botanical Garden. There are smaller gardens in the style of those that might have existed in Lewis Carroll's time including a Queen of Heart's Rose Garden. Numerous Victorian-era flowers and plants can be found in the various gardens, such as Hollyhocks, English Daisies, and Giant Water Lillies. There is even a topiary garden and a topiary rabbit as well although the topiary rabbit is not actually located in the topiary garden but in the fountain near the middle of the gardens.

The exhibit also extends into the Luesther T. Mertz Library, located on the grounds of the Botanical Garden. Indoor exhibits include one on mind-altering drugs inspired by the strange liquids and mushrooms Alice consumes in the books. There are also several cases of books, games, and more inspired by the books. There are books available to peruse as well including books for reading to small children, and at least one non-English book.

Young children will also love the special Alice in Wonderland-related playground. There are also special events for children like opportunities to meet costumed characters from the book and musical tea-time adventures.

There are special events geared to other ages as well. They include The Caterpillar's Poetry Corner and Wonderland Nights dance parties. This is truly something for every age. Whether you are a fan of the Alice in Wonderland books,  nature, or both even if you just want to get in some fun outdoors before the clocks get turned back and the cold sets in, you will want to visit this enchanting exhibit.
