I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Twist of Fate is the second installment of the York Theatre Company's New2NY series. This refreshingly unique musical revolves around the true story of a woman arrested for fortune-telling who fights back claiming a violation of her First Amendment rights. As interesting as that is, there is so much more to the story than that. At its heart, it is a touching story of a mother and a daughter.

Lianne Marie Dobbs and Maya Lagerstram who play the mother, Dominique, and the daughter, Olivia, respectively, are both exceptionally good in their roles. Their acting is outstanding and their voices are incredible. The music, in general, is terrific. The songs are catchy and definitely worth listening to more than once. If there were a cast recording, we would buy it immediately.

The overall plot is quite interesting and holds your attention throughout the show. The brief love story between Dominque and her lawyer doesn't really work, however. That part of the story is given short shrift. It seems unnecessary anyway plus the actress playing Dominique and the actor playing her lawyer don't have much chemistry. Thus that part of the story isn't very believable anyway. However, that is the only minor shortfall regarding this otherwise impressive new show.
