I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: Smoke and Water & Misc: South Shore Fine Linens Duvet Covers

We may have been given one or more of the books and/or other products mentioned below for free for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books : Smoke and Water

Mom - Today I am recommending Smoke and Water by Tai Le Grice. This is a sweet and tender love story except instead of  it being the story of love between a man and a woman, it is the story of the love between two men. Eike lost his family in a tragic accident. He has gone to live with his grandparents and started a new school. As if that weren't enough he is struggling with his feelings because his brother always told him things like boys don't like boys. Then, he is encouraged to return to his competitive swimming career where he is paired up with Damon King. The two instantly find themselves attracted to one another. However, Damon has secrets of his own, secrets which could haunt them both. Even if you never thought you would want to read about a love story between two men, if you like romance you will enjoy this book. It is not too graphic, and in many ways it easily relatable. Although the fact that the two main characters are gay is a large part of the story, you could easily substitute other issues that characters might have to face which can deeply divide people like race or religion and have a similar story. In the words of Lin Manuel Miranda "Love is love is love" and Eike and Damon truly make as cute a couple as any. You can't help rooting for them which makes this a really touching heartwarming book.
