Me & Mom - Germ City is one of the exhibits currently on display at the Museum of the City of New York. It is all about diseases and the fight against them. As part of the exhibit, there is a wall where the names of various diseases are listed. Some of the artifacts presented as part of the exhibt include an iron lung, a hazmat suit, and various medical devices and medicines. There are also a lot of paper artifacts like advice from the Department of Health, a letter written by Typhoid Mary, and a subway poster in support of sick pay for workers. In a different room, there are books related to the subject as well as a computer exhibit where you can see a map of how historic cholera epidemics spread in two different cities. The exhibit also shows the way our understanding and approach to studying and curing disease has changed and developed over the years. All in all, it is a fascinating exhibit. Just be aware, however, that if you are particularly sensitive, there are some parts of the exhibit that you may find disturbing. For this reason, we also wouldn't recommend it for very young children. There are also various walking tours and talks associated with the exhibit. For more about that and the exhibit itself, visit

And that's our view. We will be posting about other current exhibits at the Museum of the City of New York in future Where-To-Go Wednesdays.Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
This sounds like a fascinating exhibit. I'd love it if they could bring it to the DC Metro area!
