I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

3) Class

CLASS is a witty, intimate drama about two artists who meet as they question whether their art, and their lives, still have meaning. Elliot, a celebrated but disillusioned acting teacher, meets Sarah, a mysterious young actress searching for something she can no longer name. What begins as a clash of wills becomes an unexpected, deeply personal connection as they challenge each other to risk, tell the truth, and remember why they became artists in the first place. As the boundaries between teacher and student, art and life, desire and devotion begin to blur, CLASS becomes a moving exploration of what happens when two lost souls find, in each other, a reason to keep creating, and perhaps to keep loving.

Ear Inn (326 Spring St.)

4) La Distance

Welcome to the year 2077, where survival has put humanity to the test, and distance means more than miles. Visionary playwright and director Tiago Rodrigues returns to BAM with an urgent, unforgettable new work exploring separation, communication, and the consequences of choices we make today. As humanity struggles to survive on earth, a daughter chooses life in exile on Mars, leaving her father behind to grapple with love, loss, and the challenge of maintaining connections across unnavigable distances.

5) Galileo

Galileo is the electrifying and explosive new Broadway musical about the man whose discoveries rocked our universe. When luminary Galileo (Esparza) peers into the heavens, what he sees challenges humanity’s understanding of the world. Unwilling to deny the truth, Galileo finds himself in a fight with the most powerful institution on Earth. As his trusted confidant Maffeo Barberini (Kushnier) ascends to power, friendship leads to betrayal, and the dreams Galileo has envisioned for himself and for his brilliant daughter Virginia Galilei (Woods) begin to slip away. Belief, ambition, and love pull the trio out of orbit, each confronting what they’re willing to sacrifice for what matters most.

Through his cherished Rose (Keith Conallen), a Fox seeking friendship (Matteo Scammell), and a mysterious Snake (Anthony Martinez-Briggs), he learns unexpected lessons about love, connection, and what can be seen only with the heart. Together, the Little Prince and the Aviator discover how looking at the world through a child’s eyes can awaken the capacity to laugh, wonder, and love again. 15) Stories of War

The CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI), an expansive program providing New York City choreographers and dance companies with creative residencies on CUNY college campuses, announces Stories of War in Honor of Veterans Day by Exit12 Dance Company.

Co-founded by Iraq War veteran and choreographer Román Baca, Exit12 Dance Company began in 2007 as a way for him to process his military experience through dance. As a ballet dancer turned Marine, choreography became a means of healing—an expressive outlet to explore and share the invisible wounds of war.

Exit12’s full-length performance at John Jay College, Stories of War in Honor of Veterans Day, weaves together veteran storytelling with concert dance. The program takes the audience through the military experience, exploring war, the effects on family, homecoming, reintegration, and hope for the future. It will include a new piece developed with the John Jay College Veteran community – the College enrolls the most military-related students in the City University of New York system – and conclude with an audience talkbac

17) Theatre Brut Short Play Festival: 2026 Through the Window

What happens when we look through a window? Do we see the world as it really is, the world as we wish it could be, or something we never expected? New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) invites audiences to discover the unexpected with THEATRE BRUT SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL 2026: “THROUGH THE WINDOW,” a festival of eight original short plays presented over two weekends.

From dark fantasy and unexpected romance to family revelations, fractured relationships, and the fragile line between imagination and reality, THEATRE BRUT brings together eight distinctive playwrights for an exploration of the human experience that is by turns funny, provocative, unsettling, and deeply moving.

Each playwright was challenged to interpret the theme “Through the Window” in an original 15-to-30-minute one-act play, resulting in eight unique theatrical worlds and eight very different perspectives on what happens when we look beyond the familiar.

In Operation Mincemeat, it’s 1943, and the Allied Forces are on the ropes. Luckily, they’ve got a trick up their sleeve. Well, not up their sleeve, per se, but rather inside the pocket of a stolen corpse. Equal parts farce, thriller, and Ian Fleming-style spy caper (with an assist from Mr. Fleming himself), Operation Mincemeat tells the wildly improbable and hilarious true story of the covert operation that turned the tide of WWII.

“Widening The Lens: A Conversation Series” will offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for audiences to engage more deeply with the urgent questions at the heart of Here There Are Blueberries. Through thought-provoking discussions exploring themes such as memory, complicity, and responsibility, the series carries the play’s own act of investigation beyond the final curtain, fostering a meaningful dialogue about the past, its enduring relevance in today’s world, and the choices we make that shape the future.

Here There Are Blueberries begins with an extraordinary real-life mystery. In 2007, an album of Nazi-era photographs arrived at the desk of a U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum archivist. The photographs weren’t like any that had been seen before. As curators unraveled the truth behind the images, the album soon made headlines and ignited a debate that reverberated far beyond the museum walls.

Based on real events, Here There Are Blueberries tells the story of these historical photographs – what they reveal about the perpetrators of the Holocaust, and our own humanity.

32) South Street Seaport Museum Announces

Diwali Celebration at the Seaport Museum

November 10 | 4–6pm | 213 Water Street | Free

South Street Seaport Museum announces its annual Diwali Celebration at the Seaport Museum on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 from 4–6pm. Tickets are free and can be reserved here.

Join the Seaport Museum, The Culture Tree Collective Inc., and The Rubin Museum for festive activities to mark Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Diwali, named for the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that light up homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness, also marks the start of the Hindu New Year.

From 4pm to 6pm, decorate your own “diya lamp”—or in this case, a battery-operated candle—on the cobblestones of Water Street outside of the Museum and float it in a special pool, symbolizing prosperity for the new year. Rubin Teaching Artists will guide families in creating a large-scale rangoli design with flower petals, and attendees can make their own colorful rangoli designs using sand. From 4pm to 5pm, visit a henna artist for a special decorative keepsake.

At 4:15pm, you will head into the Museum’s first-floor Maritime City exhibition gallery for Diwali Puppet Storytime, where you’ll explore the significance and origins of Diwali and how it’s celebrated worldwide. We’ll also read stories like A Kids Book About Diwali, perfect for children and families.

Following Storytime, at 5pm, you will jump into an interactive dance workshop and performance in which you will experience and dance to popular Diwali songs, music, and stories. Attendees will learn mudras (hand gestures) from classical dance forms and dance to beautiful Diwali songs.

In addition to these exciting, all-ages activities, enjoy free access to the Seaport Museum’s Maritime City exhibition and explore the unique letterpress printshop Bowne & Co., Stationers, which will even have something special for you to print using the Museum’s 19th century printing press!
