I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

B) Beginning Performances

In New York

3) An Ark

An Ark is a genre-defying production, transforming universal human experiences into a profoundly intimate, one-of-a-kind, theatrical performance by the ensemble cast of Ian McKellen (Film: Lord of the RingsX-Men; Stage: Richard III, Amadeus), Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton), Arinzé Kene (MistyGet Up, Stand Up!), and Rosie Sheehy (Machinal, Old Vic).

Following Kagami (2023), the first concert ever presented in mixed reality, An Ark marks Tin Drum’s return to The Shed with a new, dimensionally recorded theater experience. In this groundbreaking format, an audience of up to 200 people seated in The Shed’s Level 2 Gallery will share a performance that feels intensely intimate—where the ensemble of actors appear in a headset to speak directly to each audience member. Though the actors will not be physically present, this radical reimagining of live theater is made possible by the magic of mixed reality.

4) Awkward Productions' Diana

Do you know the story of Diana? Probably. But do you know this story of Diana? We very much doubt it. Join Diana in heaven as she shares the untold and untrue tale of her extraordinary life. Combining drag, multimedia, audience interaction, puppetry and a lot of queer joy, this unique celebration of the people’s princess has won multiple awards and sold out venues across the UK. A celebration of Ar Di that is as hilarious as it is tasteless.

10) H.M.S. Pinafore

As the first rollicking hit of the G&S collaboration, H.M.S. Pinafore charted a new course for modern musical theater and its lampooning of overblown nationalism, party politics, class distinction, and classic melodrama still rings true, while Sullivan's quasi nautical score is equally clever at parodying the classics.

Decades later, as one of the soldiers recounts the events for an American oral history project, long-buried memories resurface, drawing him back to Belfast in search of answers and revenge.

Guided and provoked by “The Conductor” and a chorus of fellow participants, Anonymous is pushed through memories, music, and mythologies that reveal the tension between who he is, who he’s told to be, and who he wants to become. As the group’s movement and storytelling intensify, from confessional meetings to ecstatic club nights to reimagined church rituals, the piece unravels the cycles of punishment, performance, and possibility embedded in America’s criminal justice and cultural narratives.

22) 59E59 Theaters Partners with local bookstores to Celebrate New York’s Literary Heritage

59E59 Theaters and Argosy Book Store, The Drama Book Shop, and McNally Jackson collaborate on a bookmark initiative, bringing together lovers of literature and the performing arts

59E59 Theaters recently announced its collaboration with three iconic bookstores as part of an initiative to build relationships with local businesses. This partnership comes in connection with their upcoming production of The Bookstore, a love letter to small bookstores and the bibliophiles who make them a home.

Two of New York’s oldest independent booksellers, Argosy Book Store and The Drama Book Shop, will join McNally Jackson Books (Rockefeller Center) in distributing branded bookmarks with every book purchase, bridging together their respective audiences.

The partnership comes as 59E59 Theaters premieres Michael Walek’s The Bookstore (January 10 – February 15, 2026), a show produced by New Jersey Repertory Company and directed by William Carden about an indie bookstore owner trying to survive in New York City. Along with her found family of coworkers who unite over their passion for literature, they turn the pages of their lives and learn to navigate the plot twists that are thrown their way.

This shines a light on the shared neighborhood spirit and mutual appreciation for the arts, an invitation to discover new stories beyond the page.

Founded in 1925, Argosy Book Store has been a staple for rare book lovers in New York City– just steps away from 59E59 Theaters. Now in its third generation of family ownership, Argosy specializes in Americana, modern first editions, autographs, art, photography, and antique maps and prints.

Founded in 1917 by the Drama League, the Drama Book Shop became an independent book store in 1923 and since that time has been deemed a quintessential New York City cultural institution. Over the past 100 years, the Drama Book Shop has secured its reputation as the city’s best source for theatrical works, with over 8,000 plays regularly in stock. In 2011, the Drama Book Shop received a Tony Award® Honor for Excellence in the Theatre.

McNally Jackson Books was founded in 2004 by Sarah McNally. McNally has used a combination of traditional insight with cutting-edge literary practices and figured out a way for booksellers to succeed in a time when print has gone through seismic changes with online retailers.

23) 92NY Harkness Dance Center Presents

Heidi Latsky Dance:

WHO AM I NOW?

When our worlds turn upside down, what are the stories we tell?

In Person

January 10, 2026 at 7PM | January 11, 2026 at 1PM

The 92nd Street Y, New York (92NY) presents Heidi Latsky Dance’s WHO AM I NOW? When our worlds turn upside down, what are the stories we tell? at Buttenwieser Hall at The Arnhold Center, 1395 Lexington Ave, New York, NY, 10128, on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 7PM and Sunday, January 11, 2026 at 1PM. Tickets start at $45 and are available here.

Heidi Latsky changed the world by making space for everybody. A pioneering voice in contemporary dance, she has spent her life confronting assumptions — about beauty, ability, movement, and value. In WHO AM I NOW?, she turns that lens inward and asks, “When our worlds turn upside down, what are the stories we tell?”

This special presentation, created by Heidi Latsky in collaboration with the dancers, shows excerpts from her newest work, Tracking Parallel, including a surreal film as its backup – offering a rare and intimate encounter with one of today’s most influential artists. A conversation with the audience will follow the performance.

Latsky’s journey — through dance, activism and, most recently, recovery from brain surgery — becomes a meditation on identity and resilience. As she reclaims her own body, she invites us to rethink ours. Through decades of work with disabled performers and a radical redefinition of who gets to be seen, Latsky has reshaped dance — and, in doing so, expanded our collective idea of freedom. Like the great women who helped reimagine justice and visibility in this country, her art has become a form of resistance.

The Church in Sag Harbor with Works & Process

The Lineage Project by Kristine Bendul & Abdiel

More Information

Dance powerhouses Kristine Bendul & Abdiel are known for their work in Broadway and off-Broadway musical theatre productions, ballet and modern concert dance, and their gender-neutral approach to ballroom partnering, which equally exchanges roles of lead and follow, with both in heels! During a weeklong Works & Process residency at The Church in Sag Harbor, Ron De Jesús will choreograph a new piece for Kristine and Abdiel, blending Adagio partnering with contemporary movement. De Jesús, who had an extensive career with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Twlya Tharp, has been recognized for his work across concert dance and musical theatre. Set to “Black Cream” by The Harold Wheeler Consort (1975), this new duet reimagines classic Adagio patterns through a modern lens—honoring the form’s history while exploring new lifts, transitions, and expressive possibilities.

Join them s for a “first look” at what they’ve created together during the residency, followed by a conversation with the artists.
