Juliet A Revenge Comedy is a feminist reimaging of Shakespeare in which several of his female characters band together to change their stories and prevent their own deaths. Thus, the show bears some similarity to the current hit musical, Six, but it is more of a dark comedy and there aren't any songs.
The three-member cast plays off each other nicely. All are quite amusing in their roles. However, special mention must be made of Carly Pokoradi who plays several roles including Lady Macbeth, Ophelia, and Cleopatra and brilliantly skirts in and out of each role including its associated accent at a moment's notice. She really gets a workout physically, verbally, and theatrically.
The show is quite thoughtful and also extremely funny. It shines a light on how badly women were treated in Shakespeare's plays, which was, of course, reflective of the status of women in general when his plays were written. In some ways, we've come a long way since then (although some would surely have us go back to those dark times), in some we haven't.
