I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

A) Beginning Performances

In Connecticut

1) Sunset Boulevard

SUNSET BOULEVARD tells the magnificent tale of Norma Desmond, a silent-screen star living in her Sunset Boulevard mansion clinging to a fantasy that audiences still long for her, but in reality, hardly remember her. This seven time Tony Award winning masterpiece has been called Andrew Lloyd Webber’s finest scores and weaves a compelling tale of romance, obsession, and faded glory.

ACT of CT (36 Old Quarry Rd., Ridgefield, CT)
10/26 - 11/19

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.actofct.org

In New York

2) Arcadia

Tom Stoppard’s absorbing play takes us back and forth between the centuries and explores the nature of truth and time, the difference between the Classical and the Romantic temperament, and the disruptive influence of sex on our orbits in life - 'the attraction which Newton left out’.

West End Theater (263 W 86th St.)
10/27 - 12/10
Opening Night 12/12

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit  bedlam.org.

3) Danny and the Deep Blue Sea

Have you ever been caught in an earthquake? A chance meeting. A dive bar. Some encounters are so dangerous and so beautiful, they redefine the meaning of love. Follow two desperate people in the Bronx, Danny and Roberta, as they walk the line between destruction and transcendence.

Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher St.)
10/30 - 1/7
Opening Night 11/13

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit

4) Ode to a Wasp Women

Ode To The Wasp Woman chronicles the last 48 hours in the lives of four 1950's B movie stars; Susan Cabot, leading lady of the Roger Corman’s cult classic The Wasp Woman; George Reeves, the man who brought Superman to life on TV screens across America; Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer of the beloved “Our Gang” comedies; B-movie queen Barbara Payton. The desperate and sensational events that lead to the demise of these four fallen stars are told in four one acts with music, a veritable homage to film noir and true crime.

The Actors Temple Theatre (339 W. 47th St.)
10/30 - 1/31

Opening Night 11/9

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit Ode To The Wasp Woman

5) Patience

Patience, or Bunthorne’s Bride might just as well be about Beatlemania or the current Swifties craze, but fads come and go and aesthetic poetry is all the rage of the day, especially among the maidens who have all become groupies of the self-styled poet Reginald Bunthorne – to the dismay of the macho military men whose brash and bold military behavior and bright red Dragoon Guard uniforms are out of favor with their former love interests.  Only Patience, the virtuous village milkmaid, who doesn’t understand the current fad, claims to have never loved anyone.  She doesn’t care for poetry much either, and, as it turns out, neither does Bunthorne himself!  Another pretentious poet, Archibald Grosvenor, appeals to Patience, but in the end the aesthetic fad is repudiated and being common becomes the new celebrity, proving that every generation has its own temporary insanity!

Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th St.)
10/28 & 10/29

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit nygasp.org

6) #UGLYCRY

After the death of her ex-boyfriend, grieving social media-obsessed millennial Katie Mack uses the only thing she really knows how to use to bring him back--her phone. A ninety-minute interactive performance where the audience uses their phones to try to bring the now-deceased, Eric Anthamatten, back to life. A show about loss in the age of Instagram, Facebook & TikTok, and the little legacies we leave behind. Based on a true story. Bring Your Own Phone.

10/26 - 11/18

8) Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground

Adapted from a vast array of General Eisenhower's memoirs, speeches, and letters, Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground is a candid and fascinating fictional eavesdropping on President Dwight D. Eisenhower at his Gettysburg, Pennsylvania farm. It is 1962 and The New York Times Magazine has published its first list ranking the American Presidents in order of greatness. Pondering his placement on the list, Eisenhower looks back on his life - his Kansas upbringing, his decorated Army career, his victories in World War II, and his two terms as President – contemplating the qualities and adversities that make an American President great.

Theatre at St. Clements (423 W. 46th St.)

Closing 10/27

9) Shucked

What do you get when you pair a semi-neurotic, New York comedy writer with two music superstars from Nashville? A hilarious and audacious farm-to-fable musical about the one thing Americans everywhere can’t get enough of: corn. Shucked is the new musical comedy that proves sometimes tearing down a few walls, rather than growing them, is the only way to preserve our way of life. Shucked is turning Broadway on its ear and is offering a kernel of hope for our divided nation.

But when a notice from the government arrives alerting Sam that he must clean up his property or face eviction, he’s forced to reckon with what’s trash, what’s treasure, and whether we can ever know the difference between the two.

PRESENTATION OF THE YALE DRAMA SERIES PRIZE TO

BATHHOUSE.PPTX

BY JESÚS VALLES

DIRECTED BY CHAY YEW

TAKING PLACE MONDAY, OCTOBER 30 AT 3:00 PM

AT THE FLEA

The Flea in association with the Yale Drama Series is presenting a staged reading of BATHHOUSE.PPTX by Jesús VallesBATHHOUSE.PPTX was selected as the 2023 recipient of the Yale Drama Series Prize judged by Jeremy O. Harris, and it is the first recipient of The Flea’s production commission program, an open call program that provides a finishing commission and full production to an experimental new work by Black, brown and/or queer artists.

BATHHOUSE.PPTX is an epic new play following The Presenter, a “young,” queer, Mexican-American public-speaking student, who is thrust into the landscapes of queer intimacy, colonialism and communal spaces for pleasure when his presentation on the history of cleanliness and bathing starts to burst at the seams with the ghosts of a bathhouse at the end of the world including A Conquistador! Wearing One of Those Hats!, A Very Real Twink, and even the appearance of Laura Linney. Valles describes it as, “A group project for perverts. Somewhere between lecture, re-enactment, and cruising ground. A meditation on queer longing, queer grief, and all our queer worlds that will come to pass, that will come to be.”

The reading at The Flea (20 Thomas Street), staged by Chay Yew, will take place on Monday, October 30 at 3:00 PM and is free and open to the public.
