I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Audrey the musical

We were given complimentary tickets to Audrey the musical for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Audrey the musical

Where: The Players Theatre
             115 Macdougal
              New York, NY

Who: Recommended for Ages 12 and Up

When: Through August 28, 2022

Me - Audrey the musical was a pretty good show. I did not know that much about Audrey Hepburn, and it was fun to learn about her. At times it was a little hard to follow the story because of the jumps ahead in time. The acting and singing were both fine although sometimes it was hard to hear over the music from where we were sitting. The songs were nice but none were particularly memorable. Overall, the show is a good way to learn a little about the life of Audrey Hepburn in a fun way.

Mom - Audrey the musical is a fascinating look into the life of the legendary performer and humanitarian. The show mostly covers her career as a performer, however, and not so much the latter. Marina Yiannouris who plays Audrey does a really good job of capturing her essence and has a really beautiful voice. Unfortunately, not all of the other performances are quite up to her level. One of the other strong performers in the show, however, is Charlotte Odusanya, who plays Ella Fitzgerald and Edith Head. She is particularly good in the role of Ella with her strong and beautiful voice which is one of the few that can be heard clearly over the orchestra no matter how close you are sitting to the stage.

There are some nice songs in the show. They include some fun upbeat tunes as well as a pretty ballad or two sung by Ms. Yiannouris. Unfortunately, however, the songs don't really stay in your head after you leave the theater, and there are no songs listed in the playbill to help jog your memory.

Overall, the show is a nice sojourn into the life of Audrey Hepburn, but the whole thing goes by so fast, that it just leaves you wanting to learn more.
