I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Yankee Stadium Tour

We were given complimentary tickets to a Yankee Stadium Tour for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Where: Yankee Stadium
             161st & River Ave.
              Bronx, NY

Who: All ages

When: See website for tour schedule www.mlb.com/yankees/ballpark/tours

Me - Our Yankee Stadium Tour was fun. I learned things I never knew about the team and the stadium. Previously, I had only been to the stadium once about three years ago. It was interesting to learn that the stadium is open air so you can see the field from anywhere. It also keeps things cooler. Some other stadiums I have been to get super hot.

The Yankee Museum is one of the highlights of the tour. I really enjoyed learning about different baseball records held by Yankee players. It's really crazy that many Yankee players hold records that have not been broken in so many years. It was also cool to be able to see World Series trophies and rings up close. There were a bunch of baseballs signed by Yankees players in the museum as well. There were a whole lot of other interesting things there too. There was even a replica locker of one player's locker.

I also enjoyed Monument Park. It was really pretty with a lot of flowers. They have plaques for all the Yankee players who have had their numbers retired. I was surprised that there were so many of them. It was nice to have the time to walk around Monument Park on our tour unlike before a game when it is only open for short amount of time, and it is more crowded.

All in all, our Yankee Stadium tour was a really enjoyable experience. I only wish we could have had more time to explore the museum and Monument Park. I am really motivated to go to another game at Yankee stadium soon now!

Mom - Yankee Stadium is one of the most historic sports venues, if not the most historic  sports venue. Even if you are not a sports fan, a tour of this iconic location can be  exciting and enjoyable. If you are a sports fan especially if you are a baseball fan, it is absolutely not to miss!

Several different tours are available. They include public, tours, private tours, and even virtual tours. Some tours even include lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe  located at the Stadium. There are game day tours and non-game tours. Game day tours may not include all locations that are available on non-game day tours.

The basic tour is the Classic Tour. This tour includes both the the Museum and Monument Park.  The Yankees Museum is full of information, memorabilia and more. It includes jerseys, bats, and other equipment belonging to Yankee greats, World Series trophies, a tribute to the only perfect game in World Series history and so much more. You can learn about many Yankee greats and their contribution not only to the New York Yankees but to baseball at large. Other highlights include a replica of Thurman Munson's locker ,which remained open and untouched in the old Yankee Stadium from his death in 1979 until the stadium closed in 2008, as well  as a wall full of hundreds baseballs signed by different Yankee players and managers throughout the years.

Another highlight of the tour is Monument Park. Here you can see all the Yankess retired numbers as well as plaques dedicated to other Yankee players; Yankee managers; long time public address announcer, Bob Shepard, late owner, George Steinbrenners. and others There are also placques dedicated to Nelson Mandela, the Stonewall In and more.

The whole stadium tour only lasts about an hour, but it is all so fascinating that it will feel even shorter. You definitely won't be able to take it all in just that amount of time,  and you will wish you had even more time. However, any amount of time you get to spent learning about this hallowed venue and some of baseball's greatest players is definitely worthwhile.

And that's our view. For more about Yankee Stadium tours and/or to reserve tickets for a tour, visit www.mlb.com/yankees/ballpark/tours.

Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
