I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: Keya Das' s Second Act & Movies: Paulie Go

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any products, and/or visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own

Books: Keya Das's Second Act

Today we are recommending Keya Das's Second Act. Keya Das came out to her family, and they did not take it well. Shortly after, Keya died in an accident tearing the family apart and leaving them full of regret. When a play Keya wrote with her girlfriend, Pamela is discovered in the attic, Keya's sister Mitali's friend, Neesh convinces her they should get it produced as a tribute to Keya, but first, they have to get everyone to agree to the idea including Pamela.

This is a story about grief, forgiveness, and healing. The emotional journey the characters go through is both heartbreaking and inspiring. The story is not all heavy either, there is plenty of humor in it as well. It is just an all around beautiful story that reminds us to love and accept each other for who we are before it is too late, a very timely message.

Movie: Paulie Go

Today we are recommending Paulie Go.  Paulie is an antisocial high school prodigy. When his application to a robotics lab is rejected he steals a van and heads for Minnesota to confront the professor who rejected him. There he meets Avery, a young girl and expert fisherwoman, who is as strong-willed and determined as he is and the two strike up a friendship as she helps him along his journey.

This is an engaging coming-of-age film. The story is refreshingly unpredictable. Even when you think you know exactly where things are heading, they don't turn out quite like you thought they would. The relationship between the two main characters starts out prickly but ends up sweet but not necesssarily in the way you think it will.  That is another nice unpredictable thing about the film.

The setting which is a major part of the film is beautiful. It mostly takes place in and around the lakes of Minnesota. All in all, it is just a lovely film both visually and storywise.

Paulie Go is available on digital platforms now for purchase or rental.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
