I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Catch & Movies: The Score

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any products, and/or visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: The Catch

Today we are talking about The Catch by Alison Fairbrother.  When Ellie's father dies, she is surprised he left her only a tie rack instead of his prized possession, a baseball. She sets out to find out about the person to whom he left the baseball.  and in the process, she learns things she never knew about her father and herself. This is a story about family and secrets. It reminds us that even the people who we love the best and who are closest to us, we may not know as well as we think we do. This is a thought-provoking novel with an unpredictable twist.

Movies: The Score

Today we are talking about The Score. This is a film about two small-time crooks who hanging out in a cafe where one of them falls for a waitress while they are waiting to make a big score. This movie is a jumble of different genres,  a little bit musical, a little bit crime caper, a little bit love story, and a little bit thriller. It doesn't really work as a musical because the songs are very arbitrarily placed, don't really seem to have anything to do with the plot and not all of the voices are that good.  As a crime caper, it's a dud because there is a lot of talk and nothing seems to happen. The love story is slow-moving but sweet. A big twist near the end of the movie ramps up the thrill factor as well as the action, but it may be too little too late.

The Score is available now for purchase or rental.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
