I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Summer Place & Movies: Coast

We may have been given complimentary copies of any books and/or other products mentioned below and/or complimentary access to any audio and or visual media for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: The Summer Place

Today we are recommending The Summer Place by Jennifer Weiner. After quarantining together in her family's home, Ruby and her boyfriend, Gabe decide to get married even though they are only in their early twenties. Even though certain family members might think they are too young to get married, Ruby has always been determined, and when she sets her mind on something she doesn't waiver so none of them try to talk her out of it. When the family gathers at Ruby's  step-grandmother's house in Cape Cod for the wedding secrets are revealed and lives are changed.

This is one of Jennifer Weiner's best. It is a tender story about home and family where even the house is a part of the story. It is full of really great characters who although they may not always do the right thing are good at heart. Each member of the family has their own secret and their own things they need to work through and this is what drives the very intricate but fascinating plot at the core of this book. The story is told from multiple points of view which makes it that much easier to care about all the various characters even when they make choices we may not always agree with. All in all, this is a lovely touching book.

Movies: Coast

Today we are talking about Coast. Coast is a film about a young girl named Abby who desperately wanting to escape from her hometown tries to decide if she wants to leave with a rock band whose singer she has fallen for. Although ultimately the main character does a learn a lesson about life and gain some maturity throughout most of the film she is not a very likable at all. She selfishly does whatever she wants without regard for her friends and family and their feelings. Basically, if you enjoy sitting through a film wherein the main character is behaving like a spoiled brat for most of it just to see them get a little redemption in the end, you may enjoy this one.
