I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Books: The Evening Hero and Creating Stories

Today we are talking about The Evening Hero by Marie Myung-Ok Lee. As a young man in Korea, Dr. Yungman Kwak's family is torn apart by the war.  Hiding a shameful secret, he manages to escape to medical school in America, with his pregnant bride.  However, the American dream isn't all it's cracked up to be and somehow, he needs to reconcile the events of his past.  This is a very dark book. It really makes you think about the real effects of the Korean War and America's for-profit medical system. Yet. it is also very touching in many ways. Dr. Kwak is a far from perfect character. Still, you can't help rooting for him because he cares so deeply, and he wants to do what's right even if he isn't always able to do so.

Today we recommend Infographic Guide to Creating Stories by Hank Quense. This book provides everything you need to know about writing in a short easy-to-read format. It covers such topics as character building, plotting, writing voice, and much more. Any aspiring writer will definitely want to have this book on their shelve of writing references.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
