The Millville Army Air Field Museum is located at the Millville Executive Airport. The airport originally opened as a school for training fighter pilots back in 1941 and operated as such until the fall of 1945. The museum is a remembrance of and a tribute to those who trained there. However, there are other exhibits that are not directly related to the history of the Millville Air Field or the men who trained there including an exhibit regarding World War I and an exhibit regarding the World Trade Center as well. The museum is really unique in that is very personalized. If you see a mannequin in a uniform here, it is not just representative of people in that particular job or unit, it belonged to a specific person and a little card around the neck of the mannequin will tell you about that person. This makes history really come alive and the museum much more special and a much more compelling place to visit for both adults and children. Of course, there are many other objects aside from uniforms in the museum's collection including weapons, model planes, actual planes and so much more. Even if you don't know the exact history of each one they are still fascinating.
The museum also hosts numerous events including movie nights and a yearly air show. This year's air show will be held on Labor Day weekend September 4 and 5th. It will feature USAF F-22 Raptor and more. For more about the air show visit www.millvilleairshow.com.
While there is a cost for attending the Millville Army Air show, a visit to the museum is free although donations are greatly appreciated. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. No reservation is required, but social distancing and mask-wearing is required.
