I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

1) An Outbreak Infects Higher Education in Pandemic Drama Premiere
ADJUST THE PROCEDURE
Now Streaming through March 7 on Stellar

Spin Cycle in association with JCS Theater Company presents the World Premiere of ADJUST THE PROCEDURE, a new play by Jake Shore (The Devil Is On The Loose With An Axe In Marshalltown, Holy Moly, and Down The Mountain And Across The Stream) conceived during the pandemic and created with Zoom theater in mind. The fully realized production runs through March 7 on Stellar. Tickets are $10, available at www.SpinCycleNYC.com

It's early Fall 2020 and the pandemic consumes a Manhattan university. In addition to tracking rising cases of COVID on campus, the school's administrators face immigration problems, suicide threats, and professors losing their minds. But in the midst of all the madness, it's the internal bureaucratic battles that threaten the school's preservation. Over the course of two conflict-ridden Zoom meetings, ADJUST THE PROCEDURE gives audiences a rare peek into the business of higher education at a moment of multiple reckonings.

3) WRITER & COMEDIAN KRIS ANDERSSON LAUNCHES A FIRST OF ITS KIND STREAMING PLATFORM THAT ALLOWS VIRTUAL PRODUCTIONS TO PLAY SIMULTANEOUSLY THROUGH MULTIPLE VENUES, IN VARIOUS TIME ZONES, MAXIMIZING AUDIENCE AND REVENUE FOR STRUGGLING
THEATERS AND ARTS CENTERS ACROSS AMERICA

THE YET UNNAMED SERVICE IS BEING LAUNCHED WITH THE WORLD PREMIERE OF
“DIXIE’S HAPPY HOUR”
A FOLLOWUP TO THE SMASH HIT DRAMA DESK AWARD NOMINATED
OFF-BROADAY SHOW “DIXIE’S TUPPERWARE PARTY”

Kris Andersson, actor, writer and comedian behind the famed drag persona Dixie Longate, and creator of the smash hit Drama Desk Award nominated off-Broadway show, Dixie's Tupperware Party, has partnered with the streaming company Stream Ally to launch a new platform (name soon to be announced) that allows virtual productions the ability to stream simultaneously, through multiple venues, in various time zones - maximizing audience and revenue for participating theaters. 22 arts centers and theaters across the country are currently utilizing the new service by presenting the world premiere of Andersson’s new comedy “DIXIE’S HAPPY HOUR” – delivering it as a fundraiser where they each keep 80% of the profit from ticket sales.

DIXIE’S HAPPY HOUR is being made available (free of charge) to theaters across the country - from big arts centers down to small indie theaters. Theaters that present the production are able to keep 80% of ticket sales. The other 20% goes to cover the cost of the production and the streaming service itself. The theaters market the show to their patrons and subscribers. The new platform integrates with the theater's ticketing system and delivers the stream to the ticket holders. Now, on any one given night, the show can be seen from multiple theaters across the country. Audiences are not coming to the streaming service, they are going directly to the theaters themselves, just as they always have, pre-pandemic. The platform entices arts centers to reach out to local content creators and theater artists who didn’t have an opportunity to get into these arts centers or theaters before, a bridge between them and the centers to stream new content.

DIXIE’S HAPPY HOUR first premiered in January at Starlight Amphitheater in Kansas City and is a fitting show to launch the platform. Right now, the world needs a drinking buddy - and there’s no one more qualified for the job than Alabama’s favorite daughter and America’s favorite bar hopper, Dixie Longate – a gal who’s never too far away from a cocktail. Audiences spend an evening with Dixie on an uproariously raucous joyride where she shares stories that prove happiness isn’t only found at the bottom of a margarita glass. It’s an uplifting story that challenges the audience to search for their personal happy hours by looking for the good in even the most complicated situations.

Tickets start at $35 per household. A continuously updating list of participating theaters and information about the show can be found at http://DixiesHappyHour.com

Plus, Season 4 of The Story Pirates Podcast resumes on March 4th

The Story Pirates will release their fourth family music album, The Strawberry Band, on April 2nd. Every song on the adventurous mock concept album was inspired by a kid’s idea, including today’s first single, “Fun Crazy Weird Hair Store,” by a 9 year old named Sylvia from New Jersey. The Strawberry Band features songwriting and performances by noted Broadway talent and is available for pre-orders today on various music platforms.

Members of the Story Pirates Creator Club will be able to access all the songs prior to release date.

"The Strawberry Band” is a Beatles-esque song based on a story by Nathaniel, a 5-year-old Californian. The fictional British rock band has big dreams. Trouble is, they turn into strawberries whenever they perform. The seedy crew decides to create a concept album, and they reappear throughout the album to avoid a strawberry-eating shark, ending up in a psychedelic freakout before the final track, “I Have a Cookie” (performed by Broadway’s Eddie Cooper). The Strawberry Band’s songs tell compelling and hilarious stories about musical cinnamon buns, weird sisters, a wingless fairy, and a dreamy little hedgehog

11) Pandemic-Friendly Hit Announces Revised Production & Added Dates
VOYEUR: THE WINDOWS OF
TOULOUSE-LAUTREC
Now through April , 2021

Bated Breath Theatre Company announces another extension of its live hit VOYEUR: THE WINDOWS OF TOULOUSE-LAUTREC through April 3, 2021. As of March 6, the company will begin performing a new "Spring 2021 Edition" of the show that will guide audiences along a new route ending at Greenwich House. The updated VOYEUR also features new performers, new scenes, new stops, and new surprises along the way.

VOYEUR is an open air, immersive theatrical experience that guides an intimate eight-person audience through the dreams of iconic artist Toulouse-Lautrec as he recalls his final absinthe-laced years living and working in Montmartre. It is a unique blend of theater, dance, art, walking tour, live music and puppetry. The sidewalks, doorways and windows of Greenwich Village become the setting for VOYEUR as live accompaniment collides with the city’s soundscape, transporting attendees into the bohemian world of 1899 Paris.

12) What's On (Streaming & On-Demand)

 at the wild project

March 5 – March 13
HAPPY DAYS by Samuel Beckett
A Film by Nico Krell
With Tessa Albertson and Jake Austin Robertson

Presented by wild project, in association with the Princeton University Fund for Irish Studies
Schedule: Thursday – Saturday at 8 pm; Sunday at 3 pm
Tickets: Free with a suggested donation of $25
Reservations (required) via: http://happydays.nyc/

Happy Days, Samuel Beckett’s modernist masterpiece, is the ultimate emblem of perseverance. In the iconic playwright’s lifelong pursuit to illuminate consciousness on stage, Beckett devised Winnie: a tour de force of charm and grit, helplessly buried up to her waist in the ground. She endures the wearisome humdrum of endless, interchangeable days. And now, speaking to an audience who has faced a year of quarantine, the play endures too.

To commemorate the play’s 60th anniversary, New York’s the wild project and director Nico Krell are revitalizing this mammoth, mysterious work. In an exception allowed only during the global pandemic, the performance will be recorded and broadcast online, delicately translated to the screen by a team of artists working on the cutting edge of digital theatre.
