I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday - Drawing the Curtain: Maurice Sendak's Designs for Opera and Ballet

We were given free tickets to the Morgan Museum and Library for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Drawing the Curtain: Maurice Sendak's Design for Opera and Ballet

Where: Morgan Museum and Library
             225 Madison Avenue
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

When: Through October 6, 2019

Me & Mom - Maurice Sendak is best known for his children's stories including Where the Wild Things Are and Chicken Soup with Rice. However, he also designed sets and costumes for the stage. The Morgan Museum and Library is currently hosting an exhibit of some of his designs for the opera and ballet. The exhibit includes pictures, sketches, models and even one or two actual costumes. There is also a video where you can see clips from some of the actual productions. Productions covered by the exhibit include such familiar titles as The Nutcracker, The Magic Flute,  and a stage version of Where the Wild Things Are as well as lesser known titles, such as, The Love for Three Oranges. The exhibit is full of color and distinctly recognizable as Maurice Sendak's particular blend of cuteness and creepiness. Accordingly, although young children may enjoy viewing the colorful items on display some of the items may be disturbing to young children who are easily frightened. Anyone who is a big fan of Maurice Sendak will not want to miss this exhibit. The exhibit will run through October 6, 2019.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
