I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Misc: Emerson Resort & Spa

We were given a free visit to Emerson Resort and Spa for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Emerson Resort and Spa

Where: 5340 Rte. 28
             Mt. Tremper, NY

Me - Today I am recommending Emerson Resort and Spa. The rooms are very large. The beds are comfortable. I liked the pool and the hot tub. They also have big whirlpool tubs in the rooms. Emerson is a really good place to relax. Aside from the spa, they have a lot of chairs outside where you can sit, and it's quiet and peaceful. It's really pretty outside, and there is a nice view of the mountains. The area around the resort is beautiful too. There are a lot of flowers and trees and there is water but I am not sure if it is a lake or a pond. There are only two places to eat. at the resort. One is a cafe that closes at 5:00 and when we went over there at 4:30 they had already stopped grilling which gives you less choices of what you can eat. The other place is called Woodnotes Grille. It is somewhat expensive. The food in both places is really good, however. In the cafe, the grilled cheese is delicious and the portions arereally big. In Woodnotes Grille, I liked the cheeseburgers and fries. The fries were especially delicious, and they give you a lot of them.  You can go to a neighboring town to eat if you want more choices, but a lot of the restaurants there close early too and they are not necessarily less expensive than those at the resort. In the Resort, there are a lot of little shops where you can buy different things. You can buy unique things that you wouldn't be able to get elsewhere or even things that you may have forgotten from home. All in all, Emerson's Resort and Spa is a really fun place to go and relax for a while.

Mom - Today I am also recommending Emerson Resort and Spa. This cosy resort in the Catskill Mountains is a great place for a nice relaxing trip. The rooms are spacious and include both whirlpool showers and tubs, fireplaces, and a back deck with a beautiful view. In fact, the entire property is brimming with natural beauty. The grounds are full of gorgeous green trees, colorful flowers, and the Esopus creek flows around the back of the property. There are also breathtaking views of the mountains everywhere you look. This is not one of those resorts where food is included as part of your package. There are two restaurants on the property, Ralph's Cafe and Woodnotes Grille. Both can be a bit pricey and Ralph's Cafe is not open for dinner unless you eat dinner before 4:30. However, the food at both restaurants is delicious,  and I would particularly recommend the grilled cheese at Ralph's and the steak, potatoes and cheesecake at Woodnotes Grille. There are also restaurants in neighboring towns but they are not necessarily less expensive, and some of them close early as well.  There is plenty to do at the resort.  If you are looking for a loud boisterious place to go  full of more lively noisy sporting activities this is not it, but this is a great place to engage in more quiet and peaceful activites even including some sports like swimming and fishing.  We will talk more about some of the specific activites available to participate in at the resort in our Funtivity Friday post this coming Friday.  There are plenty of places to rest and convene with nature as well as places to pamper yourself like the spa or hair and nail salons right on the propety. There are also a variety of little country stores including a men's store, a women's store, a home and garden store, a toy store and more. There is the famous Kaatskill Kaleidoscope, the world's biggest kaleidoscope. We will talk more about the Kaatskill Kaleidoscope in tomorrow's Where-To-Go Wednesday.  Overall, Emerson Resort and Spa is wonderful place to go to relax and recharge.
