Mom's view: Green Day's American Idiot is a musical based on the album of the same name. The story revolves around three unhappy young men who don't know what to do with their lives. The show is very inappropriate for young children due to both language and subject matter which includes both sexual situations and  a storyline involving drug addiction among other things. If you are familiar with and like Green Day especially if you are familair with and like the album, American Idiot, you will probably enjoy this show. If you like shows that are like rock concerts and have very little dialogue, you may also enjoy this show. If you are not familiar with Green Day and their American Idiot Album in particular, that does not necessarily mean you will not enjoy this show. However, it does make it harder to keep track of what is going on in the show at times due to the lack of dialogue and the fact that the singing voices are not always clear. The voices are beautiful, however, and it is worth seeing the show to hear them. It is probably best to read up on the plot before you see the show though so you will know what is going on when you do see it. Also, if you do go, don't hurry out  before the curtain call or immediately after as so many people do these days or you will miss the cast performing an additional Green Day song which is definitely one of the highlights if not the highlight of the evening.
