Mom's view: The production of Mary Poppins currently playing at the Papermill Playhouse is enchanting. The acting and singing are both great. Elena Shaddow in the lead role of Mary Poppins does a particularly good job of balancing the no nonsense tough exterior of the character with the caring heart that you know is lurking just beneath the surface. The dances choreographed by the Tony nominated, Denis Jones are lively and energetic. If you have never seen the stage version of Mary Poppins, just be advised that it is not exactly like the movie. There is a lot in the movie that you cannot do on stage such as jumping into pictures or riding horses off of a carousel. However, if you just take it for what it is and don't compare it to the movie, the show is very enjoyable in its own way. Besides, all of the familiar songs are still here although they do not necessarily occur in the same way as in the film and some of them may even have new words. The show especially this delightful production of it is definitely worth seeing.
And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Funtivity Friday.
