I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

             Theatre Row
             410 W. 42nd St.
             New York, NY

When: March 5, March 20, April 2, 2017  7:00 PM

Who: Teens and Up

Me & Mom - The Spring season of At This Peformance started last night at the Lion's Theatre. This concert series which has a fall season consisting of two shows  and a spring season consisting of two shows is not to be missed. It gives Broadway and Off-Broadway, standbys, understudies and alternates their turn to shine. It is so great to see these talented performers up close in this tiny theater and get to hear them sing. It gives you an idea of how deep the talent is on Broadway beyond just those performers that everyone has heard of it. As a matter of fact, many of those famous performers may have started as understudies and some of them may have even sung at a previous At This Performance concert.

The Line-up at this most recent concert consisted of:

Steven "Heaven" Cantor - who is currently alternating in the role of Boxman in In Transit - Since Steven appears in the role  at least several times a week if you see the show there is a good chance you will see him.

Darlesia Cearcy - Darelesia had the job of understudying for one one of the most talented (and popular) actresses on the planet, Audra McDonald. That's got to be a tough job. However, she's got a beautiful singing voice of her own and deserves to be given a chance.

Lori Ann Ferreri - Lori most recently understudied several roles in the Off-Broadway production of Sweet Charity where one of the actresses she covered was another Tony Winning Broadway favorite, Sutton Foster.

Adam Grupper - Adam understudied the roles of Tevye and and Lazar Wolf in  the most  recent revival of Fiddler on the Roof. It was interesting to hear his story about how the first time he had to step into the part of Tevye he had never even had a full rehearsal in the role.

Rory Max Kaplan- Rory is currently an understudy for the new show, A Bronx Tale. He was previously an understudy for Jersey Boys and even got to appear in the 10th anniversary commercial of the show which used to run all the time on TV until the recent closing of the show.

Peyton Lusk - Peyton is young performer who recently made his Broadway debut as an understudy in the limited run of the revival of the show Falsettos. He had a great story about the time he had to go on as a replacement in the middle of a performance.

Sherry Sanders - Sherry most recently appeared as the understudy for the entire of cast of the extremely limited run of the show Chix6. Although you may not of heard of this show or Sherry, you should definitely hear more about this performer whose talent is only matched by her love for and dedication to her fellow performers. She even has an interactive On-Line Rock Musical Theatre Training Program and when Trump reversed Obama's standing regarding transgender students use of bathroom, Sherry invited any transgender youth to study with her for free.

Brooklyn Shuck - Brooklyn started acted at 7 and although it has only been a few years since then, she is  already building up quite a resume. Although, she recently understudied the role of Winnie in  Tuck Everlasting, she also appeared for about a year as one of the girl's in the title role of Matilda. We were fortunate enough to see Brooklyn in both Matilda and as one of the orphans in the most recent Broadway revival of Annie.

Tricia Tanguy  - Tricia is another performer who is the understudy for an entire cast. In this case, she is the understudy for all four women in the cast of The Marvelous Wonderettes. If you go to the show, there is a good chance you will see her in one of the roles.

The next at this performance concert will be on March 20, 2017 at 7:00 PM. Performers currently scheduled to appear at that show include understudies from The Book of Mormon, Dear Evan Hansen, Cirque Du Soleil Paramour, In Transit, Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, On Your Feet, Sweeney Todd, and Waitress. However, it is important to note that this is just a tentative list and just because it is announced that a performer from a particular show is going to appear does not mean they will. Even when you go to a concert not every performer listed on the playbill actually appears at the show. However, that should not take away from your desire to attend of of these concerts because any performers that you are fortunate enough to see in one of these concerts is going to be wonderful and talented and deserve to get their big shot.  You should definitely go see these concerts when and if you have the opportunity.  Then, maybe one day you'll even get to say you got to see the next big Broadway performer way back when.

What shows standbys, understudies and/or alternates would you love to see in performing in an At This Performance Concert?

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Tips for Tuesdays.
