I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Galumpa
Saturday February 11, 2017 11:00 AM

Can people fly? They can if they're Galumpha. Combining stunning acrobatics, striking visual effects, physical comedy, and inventive choreography, Galumpha transforms three human bodies into one floating, flying, and gravity-defying piece of art. Winners of the Edinburgh Festival Critics' Choice Award, world-class acrobatic choreographers Andy Horowitz, Gil Young Choi, and Brianna Barnett create a “human jungle gym” of kinetic energy. This is no special effect or digital trickery. Galumpha calls on imagination, muscle and merriment to create a sensory feast of images, turning the human body into shapes and structural forms that seem to break all the laws of physics. Audiences young and old are caught up in this whirlwind of movement that consistently brings spectators to their feet and takes Galumpha off theirs.

Formed in 2002, Galumpha highlights include "Velcro" as seen on The Late Show with David Letterman, and "Clackers," seen on MTVShowtimeA & E, Just for Laughs in Montreal, and by over one billion television viewers around the globe. Other pieces feature experiments in human architecture set to music by Rachmaninov, Mahler, and the virtuoso Czech band Jablkon.

Catch a Galumpha video preview HERE.

With MasterVoices and New York Baroque Incorporated
Ted Sperling, Conductor
February 9, 2017 at 7pm
Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall

MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), celebrating its 75th anniversary during the 2016-2017 season, presents St. John Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach on February 9, 2017 at 7pm
at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall (57th Street and 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019).

Bach's magnificent choral masterpiece St. John Passion is considered by many to be more dramatic and expressive than his popular St. Matthew Passion.  MasterVoices' presentation will feature its 150 voice chorus, an impressive cast of rising stars, and an ensemble of period instruments.  To pay tribute to MasterVoices' founder Robert Shaw, who held the belief that the Passions should speak directly to audiences in English, and that these concerts should be communal experiences, the performance will be given in a modern-day English translation written by Michael Slattery (who will also sing the role of the Evangelist).  MasterVoices invites all audience members to sing along with the chorales, and will provide ticket buyers with practice materials in advance.

St. John Passion tickets ($20-$130) are on sale at Carnegie Hall (carnegiehall.org | CarnegieCharge 212-247-7800 | Box Office at 57th and Seventh).MasterVoices Members are entitled to pre-sale access and discounts now. For tickets and more information, visit mastervoices.org.

If I Forget
Previewing Now

Opening night February 22, 2017
Limited engagement through April 30, 2017
Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre

If I Forget begins preview performances on February 2, 2017 and opens officially on February 22, 2017 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. This is a limited engagement Off-Broadway through April 30, 2017.

If I Forget is a sharply funny, unflinchingly honest new play about the stories we choose to believe, the compromises we can’t avoid and the hurt only our nearest and dearest can inflict.

In the final months before 9/11, liberal Jewish studies professor Michael Fischer has reunited with his two sisters to celebrate their father's 75th birthday. Each deeply invested in their own version of family history, the siblings clash over everything from Michael’s controversial scholarly work to the mounting pressures of caring for an ailing parent. As destructive secrets and long-held resentments bubble to the surface, the three negotiate—with biting humor and razor-sharp insight—how much of the past they’re willing to sacrifice for a chance at a new beginning. If I Forget tells a powerful tale of a family and a culture at odds with itself.

TICKET INFORMATION:
Tickets for If I Forget are available by calling 212.719.1300, online at roundabouttheatre.org, and in person at any Roundabout box office: The Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 W 46th Street); American Airlines Theatre Box office (227 West 42nd Street) and Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street).
