Me - Today I am recommending 3 Sprites and a Bed by Sandra C. Addis. It is great book for parents to read aloud to their little girls. It is a fairy tale about a girl who is a senior in high school and three sprites that are carved into a bed at an antique shop called Castle Antiques. The sprites became alive because an evil woman put a spell on them. This is a good book. The plot was likable. The characters were admirable especially Emily. She tries her best at everything and is really hardworking and loyal. I'd really recommend reading this book to any young girl. The book is a quick read with short chapters. You can easily read it in one sitting but it has a lot of hard words that may make it too hard for a young child to read alone.
Mom - Today I am also recommending 3 Sprites and a Bed by Sandra C. Addis. 3 Sprites and a Bed is modern fairy tale about a teenage girl, Emily; 3 enchanted sprites; and an antique bed. The sprites were put under a spell by an evil women and if Emily doesn't buy the bed or the sprites don't guess the home planet of the evil woman who put the spell on them, they will be turned to wood forever. Teenage girls are often portrayed in movies, TV, and books as mean, thoughless and/or selfish. The character of Emily in this book, however is a very positive role model. She is caring, she is motivated, and she works hard. She is the kind of teenage girl little girls should aspire to be like. That makes this entertaining story a great one for any young girl.
And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
