I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

The Best of Jewish Children's Books for the New Year!

This is a sponsored post. We have been compensated for this post.

For Jewish people worldwide, the new year kicks off on Rosh Hashanah when people wish each other l’shana tova – a sweet new year!  This September, on top of eating delicious apples with honey and making resolutions for the coming year, families raising Jewish children can also kick off the New Year by signing up for PJ Library, a free program that offers monthly, age-appropriate books celebrating Jewish values and culture through the joy of story books.

A program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, PJ Library sends more than 200,000 books a month to families across North America. Expertly curated, the monthly selections exemplify the best of Jewish children’s literature and offer books that are certain to capture children’s imaginations with cheerful characters, compelling stories, and vibrant illustrations.

PJ Library welcomes all Jewish families, whatever their background, knowledge, family make-up, or observance may be. The stories help families engage with Jewish values, ideas, and traditions on their own terms, and the books are paired with activities and resources for the whole family to learn, create, and play together.

Celebrate the new year by signing up your kiddos for PJ Library. Sign up today!

Theater Thursday - Derren Brown: Secret

We were given free tickets to Derren Brown: Secret for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: Derren Brown: Secret

Where: Cort Theatre
             138 48th St
             New York, NY

Who:12 and Up Only (Age limit policy strictly enforced)

When: Through January 4, 2019

Me - Derren Brown is a mentalist. Secret is his new show on Broadway. It is really amazing! I once saw a mentalist before, however, this show was not like that at all. Even though I enjoyed that one a lot,  this one was even better! It's hard to describe the show because to say too much would be to give too much away. As an audience member you may even have a chance to participate in the show. Even if you don't get to participate, you will still enjoy this show and you will wonder how Derren Brown is able to do the things he does! I highly recommend this show! Everyone should see it while they can before it closes on January 4!

Mom - Secret is a fitting title for this intriguing show. Everything about this show is a secret because to tell too much about it would ruin it for anyone who chooses to see it. That is not actually the reason the show is called Secret, however. If you want to find out the reason for the title, you will have to see the show, and the reason is awe-inspiring and amazing! In fact, everything about this show is awe-inspiring and amazing. Even if you have seen a similiar show before involving a magician who specializes in feats of the mind, you have never seen one like this. It is that incredible! You will definitely want to see this show, and if you do you will leave theater scratching your head and wondering how Derren Brown can possible do the things he does but also you will have been thoroughly entertained.

And that's our view. Tune in Saturday for Still More Theater Saturday.

Where-To-Go-Wednesday The South Street Seaport's Street of Ships

We were given free tickets to the South Street Seaport Museum for review purposes. Any and all opinions here are our own.

What: The South Street Seaport's Street of Ships

Where: South Street Seaport
             Pier 16
             New York, NY

Who: All ages

When: Wednesdays through Sundays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM Weather Permitting

Me- The Wavertree and the Lightship Ambrose are ships you can visit at the South Street Seaport. The Wavertree is a cargo ship. There is not really a tour, you can just explore by yourself. You can visit a lot of rooms on the ship. We got to see the cargo hold below the ship. You cannot just visit that part by yourself, you have to be taken down by somebody who works there. There was a lot of space in the cargo hold. I was surprised by how big it was. It was huge! The Ambrose is a lightship. It is like a lighthouse on the water. If you want to visit the Lightship Ambrose, you have to take a tour. We saw pipes where the crew could keep in contact with each other. We saw bunks. They looked very thin and not very comfortable. We also saw a lot more on both ships. Both ships  were interesting in their own ways and worth a visit.

Mom - A ticket to the South Street Seaport Museum includes a free visit to the Street of Ships. The Street of Ships includes The schooners, Pioneer and Lettie G. Howard; the tugboat, W.O. Decker; the cargo ship, Wavertree; and the Lightship Ambrose. The schooner Pioneer offers charters and special sails including family ecology sails which have concluded for the season but will return in 2020. The Lettie G. Howard is currently offering cruises out of Erie, PA in collaboration with the Erie Maritime Museum. The W.O. Decker is currently offering an expanded season of cruises which will run through October 13, 2019. Neither the Wavertree nor the Lightship Ambrose offers cruises. However, they can both by visited at the South Street Seaport. The Wavertree  is a cargo ship that was bulit in 1885. It circled the world 4 times. It can currently be explored at your leisure Wednesdays through Sundays between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. It is also available to be rented as a venue for events. The Lightship Ambrose was a floating lighthouse whose job it was to guide ships from the Atlantic Ocean into Coney Island, New York or Sandy Hook, New Jersey. It was built in 1907. The Lightship Ambrose is also open Wednesdays through Sundays but only for guided tours. Tours are offered several times a day between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Both ships have a very unique and interesting history. It is very fascinating to visit these ships and learn about them.
