I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

1) Gaslight

We’ve all heard of gaslighting – well it was originated in the immortal 1944 movie starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer! In this stunning play you’ll be steeped in a world where trust is a fragile illusion, one woman's reality is blurred by the darkness of manipulation. As secrets unravel and shadows deepen, will she uncover the truth before it’s too late? Experience the gripping psychological thriller 'Gaslight'—where every whisper holds a secret and every glance reveals a lie.

In Muleheaded, Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes team up to write a Broadway play—but artistic dreams give way to betrayal, ego, and heartbreak. Set during the Harlem Renaissance and inspired by true events, this sharp, soulful drama explores the fragility of friendship, the weight of ambition, and what happens when the dream is deferred.

3) Ai Yah Goy Vey!

IAi Yah Goy Vey!, a country bumpkin delivers Chinese takeout food in New York City’s diverse neighborhoods while seeking his long-lost Papa who dumped his Chinese Opera diva-Mama. Colorful characters offer clues in a “Looney Tunes” whodunit that combines standup comedy, musical theatre, dance, opera and puppetry. By playing on cultural similarities, the show shatters absurd assumptions to celebrate the diversity and one-ness of the human race.

4) Anonymous

This deeply intimate play brings you front and center to witness an addiction support group. When support group leader Charlie is a no-show, a nervous Richard steps up to take control. Addiction, hope and sobriety are all at stake when the group must face their biggest threat so far -  a challenge from within. Anonymous is a truly unique theater experience: the audience sits in the circle with the actors and experiences first hand what the characters are going through.

5) Echo Glass

Together, dance and music in Echo Glass invite audiences to listen with their bodies, feel movement as resonance, and consider alternative ways of perceiving space, relationship, and presence—marking a 50-year commitment to experimentation, collaboration, and embodied inquiry.

Echo Glass was developed through an ongoing collaboration between composer Concetta Abbate and Wendy Osserman Dance Company and is presented on the occasion of the company’s 50th anniversary. Choreographed by Osserman in collaboration with dancers Cori Kresge and Hui Wang Zhang, the work brings movement and live music into close, reciprocal relation, with each shaping the structure, timing, and texture of the other.

The live score, composed and performed by Abbate with vocalists Jimmy KraftJudette Elliston, and Damon Hankoff, draws inspiration from echolocation techniques and from the ways partially sighted individuals experience the world through hearing and vibrational touch as primary senses. The music explores sound as a spatial and perceptual force—resonating through bodies, architecture, and atmosphere—and operates not as accompaniment but as an active presence within the performance.

Gather 'round the hearth with us at wild project and let these incredible tales carry you somewhere new.

7) Hans Litten: The Jew Who Cross-Examined Hitler

Based on a remarkable true story, Hans Litten centers on the brilliant young Jewish lawyer who, in 1931, did the seemingly impossible: he called Adolf Hitler to the witness stand and publicly exposed the future dictator’s embrace of political violence, two years before Hitler rose to power. It remains one of the most audacious legal confrontations of the 20th century.

The play moves from the charged atmosphere of Berlin courtrooms to the brutal reality of Nazi concentration camps, tracing Litten’s unwavering commitment to justice, reason, and human dignity. Refusing to remain silent in the face of rising authoritarianism, Litten risks and ultimately sacrifices his life for the rule of law.

9) The Ladder

The Ladder reimagines the ancient Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur as you’ve never seen it before, through fractured stories, competing truths, and the haunting aftermath of heroism itself. Big T enters the Labyrinth to slay the monster and free his people, but what unfolds is not a tale of clean victory. Instead, the play unravels how legends are built: through omission, manipulation, and the silencing of those whose stories complicate the triumph

10) Manon!

Heartbeat takes a radically new approach to Massenet's 1884 French opera, envisioning it as a musical sung entirely in English. The saucy production is directed by Obie Award-winning director Rory Pelsue (NYT Critic’s Pick The Last Bimbo of the Apocalypse, Pulitzer Prize finalist Circle Jerk) and is adapted by Pelsue and Heartbeat's Artistic Director Jacob Ashworth. Heartbeat's Music Director Dan Schlosberg, known for his "ingenious" arrangements of the classics (The Wall Street Journal), channels Rodgers and Hammerstein in his luscious new arrangements. Choreography is by Sara Gettelfinger (Broadway's Water for Elephants, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), while a glittering cast of opera-savvy Broadway voices bring an entirely new sound to Heartbeat Opera.

18) American Symphony Orchestra Presents
      Forging An American Musical Identity

The program begins with two works of celebration: American composer Dudley Buck’s Festival Overture, a seven-minute piece for full orchestra, was written in 1879 to celebrate Independence Day and is based on the melody of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which the composer called the “American National Air.” He was for many years organist, choirmaster, and assistant conductor of the Theodore Thomas Orchestra in New York. The premiere of Richard Wagner’s American Centennial March was specially commissioned from the famed German opera composer for the Declaration of Independence’s centennial celebration in 1876 in Philadelphia. President and Mrs. Ulysses S. Grant were in attendance, although Wagner was not. Also featured on the program are three spirituals arranged and orchestrated by innovative composer Harry T. Burleigh: “Go down, Moses,” “Behold that Star,” and “Swing low, sweet chariot.” America’s first prominent Black composer, Burleigh’s legacy is honored here for his important influence and major contributions to American concert music and the history of American art song. The concert’s centerpiece is George Bristow’s massive “Niagara Symphony” in its first performance since the work’s 1898 world premiere, performed by the Manuscript Society at Carnegie Hall. The choral symphony was inspired by poet Charles Walker Lord’s verses on Niagara Falls.

22) The Cape Playhouse

The Cape Playhouse, the longest continuously operating summer
theater in the United States, announces its 2026 summer line-up, in advance of its centennial on July
4, 2027.

The season kicks off on June 3 with Nat Zegree’s MOZART TO POP CHART, a blockbuster theatrical event that explores and explodes the musical traditions that give contemporary music its beating
heart.

Next, Artistic Director, Eric Rosen will direct the Playhouse premiere of Stephen Sondheim classic, INTO THE WOODS - one of the most beloved musicals in the canon. Into the Woods evokes the classic Grimms Brothers fairy tales - Little Red, a baker and his wife, Jack and a certain beanstalk, and a certain princess with a lost slipper - and, with a brilliant score by our best composer, weaves a
story that is surprising, harrowing, and ultimately joyful.

In July, Playhouse audiences will experience a wild romp through the early 1960s with HAIRSPRAY, the Tony Award®–winning Best Musical, directed by Meredith McDonough. The show takes us back to the post-war moment in which music led the way for a cultural transformation led by teenagers dancing the Madison.

In August, the beloved Broadway smash hit, MEAN GIRLS, Tina Fey’s genre
defining comedy about what some girls will do to fit in, and what happens when they break free. Mean Girls will be directed and choreographed by Playhouse favorite, Al Blackstone.

The summer season will conclude in September with the Tony Award®–winning Best Musical, THE 25 th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, directed by The Gilded Age’s Claybourne Elder. One of the funniest, most heart-warming musicals in recent memory, Spelling Bee takes us back to the world of hyper-competitive awkward adolescents vying for a dream - in a show that is pure musical-comedy heaven.

The Cape Playhouse 2026 summer season will run June 3 to September 19 at the historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA – called “where Broadway goes to summer” by The New York Times.

24) A.C.T. OF CT
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE
2026 POSTHUMOUS PRODIGY PRODUCTIONS FELLOWSHIP FOR MUSICIANS

A.C.T. of CT is proud to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Posthumous Prodigy Productions Fellowship Award, a prestigious initiative honoring the memory of the late Bryan Gallace of Southport, Connecticut. This fellowship, created in tribute to Bryan’s extraordinary talent and unwavering dedication to music, provides a transformative opportunity for emerging musicians.

Bryan Gallace, a 2014 graduate of Fairfield Ludlowe High School and the Regional Center for the Arts, was a gifted musician whose passion for his craft was evident from an early age. As a senior at Berklee College of Music, pursuing a B.A. in Professional Music, Bryan’s promising career was tragically cut short at just 21 years
old. In addition to his musical brilliance, he was a passionate advocate for equality and justice.

The Posthumous Prodigy Productions Fellowship was established by Caroline Kellen, a founding board member of A.C.T. of CT and a director of the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Foundation.

Each year, the fellowship awards a one-time grant of $30,000 to a selected musician, empowering them to create and develop new musical works—across any genre—and further their professional growth.

Musicians interested in applying can find detailed eligibility requirements and application guidelines at www.actofct.org/posthumous-prodigy-fellowship. The deadline for submissions is April 15, 2026.

Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre announces Standing Down Straight® and Swing Dance workshops with guest artist Billy Siegenfeld, scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026 at 10:30AM and 12PM, respectively, at Amanda Selwyn Dance Studio, 412 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York, NY, 10013. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased here.

Standing Down Straight® with Billy Siegenfeld | 10-11:30 a.m.

Standing Down Straight® (SDS) is a voice-and-movement training method developed by Billy Siegenfeld, founder of the theatre company Jump Rhythm®. This approach emphasizes gravity-directed relaxation, allowing individuals to do performative or everyday tasks with reduced strain and heightened efficiency—to find power in relaxation to prevent strain and injury.

Swing Dance Workshop with Billy Siegenfeld | 12-1:30 p.m.

This workshop explores swing dance through the lens of Standing Down Straight®—finding power in relaxation and letting gravity do the work. Instead of applying muscular force, you’ll practice releasing unnecessary tension, organizing around the skeleton, and allowing movement to happen with less effort and more ease.

Dancers and non-dancers alike are welcome in this workshop to learn simple swing rhythms and partner movement while applying gravity-directed alignment, shared momentum, and efficient use of energy. Through partner and group exercises, we’ll discover how Standing Down Straight® makes swing dancing feel more sustainable, connected, and joyful.

28) BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB on Broadway

Partners with Oyamel New York

The NYC Restaurant Has Released The “Chan Chan Taco”

 Inspired by The Show

Oyamel, the NYC Mexican restaurant by chef and restauranteur José Andrés, has partnered with BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB on Broadway to release the exclusive “Chan Chan Taco,” connecting the stage and the kitchen through a shared sense of tradition, artistry, and cultural storytelling. The Chan Chan taco is now available at the Hudson Yards restaurant and will be available through Saturday, February 28th.

Inspired by the rhythms and stories of Havana celebrated on stage in the hit musical, and taking inspiration from Cuba’s classic dish, ropa vieja, the Chan Chan Taco features arroz con habichuelas, crema de plátano, and cilantro, a nod to the foundational flavors of Cuban cooking, from slow-braised, deeply savory meats to comforting rice and beans balanced by subtle sweetness and freshness.

The dish kicks off a new series for the restaurant,  that invites fellow chefs, restaurants, and creative partners to celebrate this beloved staple of Mexican cuisine. New collaborations will be announced on a rolling, monthly basis. Oyamel in New York City is a day-to-night destination tucked beneath the High Line serving classic street tacos, antojitos, ceviches, and shareable Mexican Fiestas made with fresh corn masa, alongside margaritas, mezcal cocktails, micheladas, aguas frescas, and a curated selection of Mexican beers and wines.
