Still More Theater Saturday - Dual Reality and Women of Will

Dual Reality, loosely based on Romeo & Juliet, is a story told through acrobatics. It is presented by the 7 Fingers a Montreal-based collective of circus artists. It is not always easy to follow the story, and often it barely seems like there is a story. However, this show is more about the big tricks. There are plenty of those in this exciting show, and they don't disappoint.  The troop of talented performers works with hula hoops, poles, teeter-totters, and more. They do all kinds of acrobatic tricks right on the floor as well. With very little violence, no deaths, and nonstop action from beginning to end, this is the perfect Romeo & Juliet for the whole family.

What: Woman of Will

Where: West End Theatre

Who: Recommended for Ages 12 and Up

This show based on the book of the same name Tina Packer explores how women are presented in Shakespeare's works. In the first part of the show, the two-member cast skillfully acts out scenes from a variety of his plays representing different themes regarding how the women are portrayed.  If you are not up on your Shakespeare and/or you are not able to follow his language without being extremely familiar with the play being presented, this part of the play may be hard to follow even with the brief subtitles that flash on the screen prior to each section. 

In the second part of the play, the actor's discuss the way the women are portrayed in Shakespeare's works and how they are a reflection of his time. This part of the show is quite interesting even if you aren't a Shakespeare affiicando. However, since this part of the show is very brief and comes after all the scenes are presented, we would only recommened this show for those who are big Shakespeare fans and/or extremely familiar with his body of work.
