I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

2) 44 Lights

Tim wrote his first song the night of 9/11 in an effort to communicate his pain and loss through music. Two weeks later, he recorded it with Jeremy Slansky in a New York studio. One song turned into many more and then a memorial concert on the first anniversary. “Music From Ground Zero” came to life from the ashes outside their office window in downtown Manhattan. The concerts became an annual act of remembrance at local venues. Three CDs, twenty concerts, and a documentary about the road they travelled to healing after such immense devastation, ultimately led Tim to writing a musical. Casting 10 actors and four musicians, he has created an experience for audiences to follow his personal story and find their own journey.

21) Limón Dance Company and The City College Center for the Arts

present

Experience the Legacy: Limón Dance Company

Friday, May 17, 2024 at 7pm

The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College

Limón Dance Company (LDC), in collaboration with The City College Center for the Arts (CCCA), presents Experience the Legacy: Limón Dance Company on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 7pm at The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College, 524 W. 59th Street, NYC. Tickets are $35 ($10 for students and seniors) and are available here.

Join Limón Dance Company and Limón2 for a celebration of José Limón's legacy through three of his greatest works: Missa Brevis, a poignant tribute to human resilience amidst the ruins of war, The Exiles, a virtuosic exploration of displacement and the universal journey toward the unknown, reflecting stories of immigrants and refugees with profound emotional depth, and a suite of There is a Time, Limón’s masterwork drawing from the timeless wisdom of Ecclesiastes, which captures the cyclical nature of human experience, emphasizing the power of community through expressive dance. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Dante Puleio, this performance promises to be a powerful expression of tenacity and humanity.

This exclusive event on May 17 showcases the enduring legacy of Limón’s message of empathy, hope, and perspective in an era of global conflict and division. In all three works, the themes of spirituality and being an “outsider looking in” emerge as a call to peace, perseverance, and acceptance. Witness the transformation from a historic company into a dynamic force of creative energy and secure your seats to be part of a movement that transcends time. The Limón Dance Company is not just a performance; it's a testament to the power of dance to connect, uplift, and inspire.

23) Celebrate the Legacy of the Marx Brothers at
MARXFEST 2024
May 17 - 26, 2024
Over 2 Dozen Events in Venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn

In May 1914, four brothers at a poker table sat down as Leonard, Arthur, Julius, and Milton, and stood up as Chico, Harpo, Groucho, and Gummo. (Zeppo came later.) In May 2014, five intrepid fans observed the centennial of this event with MARXFEST, a festival celebrating the Marx Brothers in the city of their birth.

A decade later, MARXFEST 2024 will be an even more momentous Marx Brothers celebration, marking a second centennial — their Broadway debut in I’ll Say She Is on May 19, 1924. Taking place over two glorious weekends (May 17-19 in Manhattan, May 24-26 at Coney Island), this commemoration of unprecedented proportions will be packed with special guests, talks, screenings, parties, performances, and surprises.

Performances, discussions, presentations, and remembrances will shed new light (and, of course, laughter) on one of the most famous comedy teams of all time, with surprises including a program of rare and never publicly heard Marx audio, a Broadway walking tour, a screening of Duck Soup at a historic cinema, a trivia hour at the legendary performer’s club The Lambs, live shows ranging from music to variety to burlesque, and much more.

Additional info and a calendar of events are available at www.Marxfest.org
