I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - Come From Away

What: Come From Away

Where: Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre
             236 W. 45th St.
             New York, NY

Who: Teens and Up
Mom's view: Come From Away is known as the 9/11 musical. However, if you think of  it that way, and you think that it is going to be too depressing to see, you are cheating yourself out of a wonderful theatrical experience. Come From Away is more uplifting than depressing. It emphasizes the best in humanity and not the worst. It is about a small town in Canada that took in over 6, 000 strangers when 38 planes were grounded there in the wake of 9/11. The songs in the show are mixed. Some of then are better than others. The acting is great. The cast does a good job of portraying a number of different roles including both townspeople and people on the planes. The singing and dance are both really good too. While this is not a show for young children who would not understand the subject matter. It is definitely a good show for older children especially if you want them to learn about compassion and goodness in the world instead of just all that bad stuff that always seems to dominate the news.
