Me - New York New Year was a very good show. It was about a girl named Tess who moved to New York at the beginning of the year, and she wanted to try to fit in and make new friends. The story took place in her first year living there. It was an interesting show. They had characters representing each month of the year. Some of the months went by really quickly. Others seemed to take a lot longer. The acting in the show was good. The singing and dancing was good too. The kids at TADA are very talented. I liked the songs in the show. I didn't have a favorite song though. The costumes were nice especially the girl who played May's dress. It was really pretty. I did not have a favorite character. I liked most of the characters. Tess learned a good lesson about being herself. That is an important lesson for all kids to learn. That makes this show a really good show for kids to see.
Mom - The current production of New York New Year by TADA! Youth Theater is a great choice for families. It is a very entertaining show for all ages. It involves a girl who moves from one state to another and is caught between trying to make friends by acting like everyone else or being herself and trying to get the other kids to like her for who she is. This a very common dilemma that I am sure a lot of kids can relate to. However, instead of trying to teach kids a lesson by hammering them over the head with advice, TADA! does so in a fun way with an engaging story filled with entertaining songs. The show is also a great history lesson because it talks about some of the great places to go and great things to see and do in New York City like Katz's Deli on the lower East Side, the Central Park Zoo, the Bronx Zoo, the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center and St. Luke's Garden in the West Village. Besides, it is always great to have the opportunity to see the members of TADA!'s talented youth troop performing. Who knows some of these kids could be the stars of tomorrow so it is lucky to have chance to see them now at way less than Broadway show prices.
