The Inkwell Singers recently completed a pair of concerts at New York City's acclaimed cabaret venue, Don't Tell Mama. The concerts marked their debut performances at the venue. Although they are usually a quartet, these particular concerts mainly featured only the male half of the act, Andy Rice and Matthew Schermerhorn. The group's other half, Kara and Daniela Masciangelo, only made guest appearances.
These concerts were designed to address the despair and helplessness many of us feel in the wake of current events, including the results of the most recent elections. Song choices included Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young's "Teach Your Children", The Beatles' "Let It Be", and Kander and Ebb's "Razzle Dazzle". There were also songs by Frank Sinatra, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and more. It was not only a nice 70-minute or so respite from the problems of the real world, but a reminder to keep hope alive and always do what we can to change the world for the better.
And that's our view. The show will be streaming on June 14. For more about that or to purchase a ticket, visit furshmedia.stellartickets.com/events/inkwell-singers/occurrences. For more about The Inkwell Singers in general or to find out where they'll be appearing next, visit
