I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Origin of Names, Words, and Everything in Between & Beyond The Lies

Me - Today I am recommending The Origin of Names, Words, and Everything in Between by Patrick Foote. This is a book about how different things got their names. It contains sections on things, such as, animals, foods, toys and more. It is a very interesting book. There may be things that you already knew before you read the book, but there are sure to  be plenty of things that you didn't already know.  If you are the kind of person who doesn't just want to know what something is called, but why it is called that, you will love this book. Even if you just like reading books that contain a lot of fascinating trivia,  you will still love this book.

Mom - Today I am recommending Beyond the Lies by Vanderbilt Brabson III. This book about a talented young ballplayer whose life is ruled by alcohol and the young woman who never gives up on him is a combination of many genres. It is a sports story. It is a coming of age story. It is a a love story although most of the romance is not overt so there may not be enough romance for serious romance fans. It is also a very accurate portrayal of how the love of alcohol can consume and practically destroy a person. Accordingly, it would make a good cautionary tale for young people.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.

  1. I have always been fascinated by the written word. Enjoy reading older novels to learn the words that were used back then.
