I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Family Romanov Murder, Rebellion & The Fall of Imperial Russia; Then She Was Gone and After Anna

Me - Today I am recommending The Family Romanov Murder, Rebellion & The Fall of Imperial Russia by Candace Fleming . This was a good book. It was very fascinating. The book was partly about the Romanov's and partly about the Russian peasants. I liked the part about the Romanovs better. The book gave a lot of interesting facts about the family that I didn't know before. For instance, I learned that Marie Romanov could paint with her left hand while writing with her right. Anyone who likes learning about the Romanov's and doesn't mind reading gory facts, will enjoy this book.

Mom - Today I am recommending two exciting thrillers.

The first book I am recommending is Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. This story starts where most stories end with discovery of the remains of a 14 year old girl who has been missing for years. Ellie Mack was a good studious girl not the sort of girl that you'd think would run off. Her mother, Laurel was never convinced that she had although the police seemed to believe it.  Yet the discovery of Ellie's remains doesn't bring Laurel closure. It just makes things more complicated especially when Laurel begins dating a man who may have a connection to Ellie's disappearance . This book will shake you to the core and yet you won't be able to put it down. It's a horrifying thrill ride of a page turner.

The second book I am recommended is After Anna by Lisa Scottoline, After a bout of phsychotic post partum, Maggie lost custody of her infant daughter to her controlling ex-husband who refused to let her have a relationship with her daughter. When the exhusband dies and Anna, now a teenager,  comes to live with Maggie, her husband Noah, and Noah's young son, what should be a happy family reunion turns into a nightmare when Maggie is caught in the middle between Anna who insists that her stepfather has been trying to molest her and Noah who vigorously protests his innocence. Then, when Noah is put on trial for Anna's murder, it seems likely that Anna was telling the truth, but all is not what it seems. Alternating between Noah's trial and the events leading up to it, this book is Lisa Scottoline at her best. It will incite all your emotions, and  take you on a gut-wrenching journey that won't let up until the very end.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
