I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday - The Band's Visit

What: The Band's Visit

Where:  Ethel Barrymore Theatre
              243 W. 47th St.
              New York, NY

Who: Recommended for ages 13 and Up

Me - The Band's Visit is a really good show. I liked it a lot more than I expected to. The plot was a lot more interesting than it seemed before I had actually seen the show. The songs are really catchy and really fun to listen to. They weren't typical Broadway show songs, but in spite of that they were still really nice songs. I especially like the songs Waiting and Welcome to Nowhere. It was cool the way the turntable they used as part of the set fit with the song Waiting. The characters in the show were likable and fun. The acting and singing and dancing were all amazing! This is a show that can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, The Band's Vist is an extremely good show, and I would very highly recommend going to see it.

Mom - The Band's Visit is a unique and charming musical about an Egyptian band that gets stranded in a small Israeli town overnight and how they interact with the people who inhabit the town. This is not a show full of outrageous characters and over the top production numbers. The characters, which include an out of work father just trying to do the best for his family and a young man terrified of interacting with girls, are much more relatable than those in your average musical. The songs are much more organic and really feel like they come out of the moment rather than a need to have a song in particular spot in the show. The Mideastern style songs  are not like those you would hear in a typical musical either but they are all beautiful. The acting is superb and the performances all around are very touching. All in all, this is a musical not to miss!

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Funtivity Friday.
