Theater Thursday - Annie Get Your Gun, Pete the Cat and Endangered

Me - Annie Get Your Gun was a really good show. It had very nice songs. I especially like the songs Doin' What Comes Natur'lly and Anything You Can Do. The characters were fun. My favorite was Annie. She was very brave. The girl who played Annie was excellent, she had a really nice voice. She was very lively and full of spunk. The rest of the performances were mixed. Some were better then others. The costumes were pretty.  They were very colorful. All in all Annie Get Your Gun was a very upbeat and energetic show, and I would highly recommend going to see it.

Me - Pete The Cat was a really cute show. It is based off a picture book series. I remember reading a few of the books when I was in Kindergarten. The show is full of fun upbeat songs, such as Really Big Adventure, I'm Painting, The Sneezing Song and Happy Housecat. The show is lively and fast paced and really captures the energy of a young child. The cast led by Kyle Sherman in the title role is terrific and really believable in their parts. The show is not too long at about an hour so it is perfect for the short attention spans of young children. Little kids would love this show especially if they have read and liked the Pete The Cat books. It is also an enjoyable enough show that older children and adults shouldn't get bored.  The show is running at the Lucille Lortel Theatre located at 121 Christopher Street through August 18. Tickets are free and are available at the theatre box office on the day of the performance beginning one hour prior to the performance.

What: Endangered the Musical

Where: The Davenport Theatre
             354 W. 45th St.
             New York, NY

Who: All ages especially kids from 6 to 10

Me & Mom - Endangered is a family friendly eco-musical. It is the first eco-friendly musical. If you are  interested in a show that is fun for kids, and might actually teach them something, this is a good choice.  It is about a a kid who gets locked in a zoo overnight. He has to help the animals escape from a storm and in the process he learns about endangered species and the need to try to save them from extinction. If you don't like talking and singing animals played by humans, you are probably too old for this show anyway. However, it is a good show for mid range children from about 5 or 6 to 10 who are old enough to understand the story and still enjoy it. Kids will particularly like the interactive aspect of the show where the characters are always addressing the audience and making them feel like they're part of the show. They will also like the lively songs.  Endangered is currently scheduled to run through September 1 at the Davenport Theater located at 345 W. 45th St, New York, NY.
