I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Where-To-Go Wednesday: New York Aquarium and The Midtown Men at State Theatre New Jersey

What: New York Aquarium

Where: Surf Avenue & West 8th St.
             Brooklyn, New York

Who: All ages
Mom's view: The New York Aquarium  was hit hard by Superstorm Sandy and still hasn't quite recovered. They are in the midst of a major renovation that is supposed to be completed in 2018. In the meantime, they are still partially open. If you visit their web-site, it seems like  there is still a lot to see at the Aquarium. However, when you are actually there, it seems like there is lot more of the Aquarium closed then it shows on-line. If you like small fish, you will still love this aquarium. If you are more interested in larger sea creatures like sea otters, seals and walruses, without access to the underwater viewing area which is still being repaired after the storm, you may not see any of those. You have a better chance of getting to see Penguins because the Penguins do not spend as much of their time under the water. There are still sharks on display although they will also be getting a new habitat. Their current one is not very impressive. However, if you want to see a Sea Lion show, the New York Aquarium is a great choice. Unlike, in many other locations these days,  here you can still see a show where Sea Lions actually perform tricks. The sea lion show is definitely the best part of a visit to the New York Aquarium. On the whole though unless you only want to see small fish, penguins, sharks, and/or the Sea Lion show you are better off waiting until the renovations are finished to visit.

We were given free tickets to The Midtown Men at State Theatre New Jersey for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

What: The Midtown Men

Where: State Theatre New Jersey
             15 Livingston Ave.
             New Brunswick, NJ

Who: All ages
Our view: The musical group The Midtown Men consists of four members of the original cast of the Tony Winning Broadway show, Jersey Boys which is the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The group includes both a Tony Winning actor and a Tony nominated actor. Although we did not have the opportunity to see any of the members of the group when they were in Jersey Boys, we recently had the opportunity to attend their concert at the State Theatre New Jersey on October 6. It was a very energetic and lively concert. It included not only songs from Jersey Boys but a ton of other great songs from the sixties as well. Most if not all of the songs were very well known popular songs that people who were not alive in the sixties would be very familiar with as well. That made the concert enjoyable for all ages. Each member of the quartet was given ample opportunity to shine and sing the lead on a bunch of the songs unlike in Jersey Boys (and the actual group Frank Valli and the Four Seasons) where the other members of the group mostly sing back-up for Frank Valli. It was also nice to be given the opportunity to learn a little bit about the members of the group like what shows they were in before Jersey Boys, if any,  and how they came to be in Jersey Boys. All in all, it was a very fun entertaining concert. For information about other great shows and events like this one that will be presented at the State Theatre New Jersey go to https://www.statetheatrenj.org/events and keep following our Sunday Scoop posts.
