I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Heiress & Sports Role Models: Books 2 & Movie: Alien Intervention

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any books, products, and/or any other visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: The Heiress & Sports Role Models: Book 2

Today we are recommending The Heiress By Rachel Hawkins. Rumors have always followed the crazy rich McTavish family. However, when Cam, the adoptive son of the late Ruby McTavish Callahan Woodward Miller Kenmore, returns home with his wife, Jules, rumors will be laid to rest and secrets will be revealed.

If you like to be reminded that the idle rich don't necessarily have better lives than the rest of us, then you will probably enjoy this saga of an incredibly rich but extremely dysfunctional family. Trouble follows this crazy clan. Kidnappings and mysterious deaths are just the tip of the iceberg. Driven by petty jealousies and a sense of entitlement, these characters are mostly unlikeable and yet oh-so-fun to read about. The more you read the crazier it gets and the more you'll be hooked.

Today we are recommending Sports Role Models: Book 2 the second book in the trilogy by Joseph M. Hoedel, Ph.D. This book is even more inspirational than the first one. It is full of poignant stories of individuals who overcame unbelievable odds to achieve the highest levels of sport including basketball player, Muggsy Bogues, and tennis player, Billie Jean King. However, this is not just a book about elite athletes achieving great things. There are stories of athletes facing certain defeat with grace like, runner, Derek Redmond. There are stories of ordinary people achieving great things like Peter Frates, the inspiration for the ice bucket challenge. Plus there are so many more incredible true stories that will both encourage you and deeply move you. Each of these stories teaches something important about tolerance, composure, grit, character, and more. Although these books are meant primarily for young athletes anyone can read and be inspired by them.

Today we are talking about Alien Intervention. This movie is about a woman who encountered an alien when she was a young girl. Twenty-five years later. She helps him return to his planet and her life is forever changed.

On the whole, this film is kind of disappointing. It moves along slowly. There are not enough details provided about the woman or the alien. You don't get to know much about either one.

The ending is not really satisfying either. In some ways, it seems happy but in other ways, it doesn't. It leaves you wanting to know more about what will happen next. On the whole, this one is strictly for those who love movies about human/alien interactions and don't care too much about the details.

Alien Intervention is available now for purchase on DVD or for purchase or rental digitally.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
