I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

Theater Thursday Special Friday Edition - Escape to Margaritaville

We were given free tickets to Escape to Margaritaville for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here our own.

Welcome to our special Friday version of Theater Thursday. In order to bring you our view of the new Broadway musical, Escape to Margaritaville, which opened last night,  as soon as  we possibly could for this week only we posted Funtivity Friday yesterday, and we are posting Theater Thursday today.

What: Escape to Margaritaville

Where: Marquis Theatre
             210 W. 46th St.
             New York, Y

Who: Recommended for Ages 13 and Up

Me - Escape to Margaritaville is a show about an island. It is about people who are visiting the island and people who live and work there. All the music is written by Jimmy Buffett. However, it is not like some jukebox musicals that do not have a plot. It is not about Jimmy Buffett either. It is a fictional story. I liked it. It was fun and lot of it was funny. The characters were interesting. The acting, singing and dancing were all good. A lot of people seemed really familiar with the music and were singing along. I just wish they weren't singing along so loudly. I did like the songs though. I didn't know any of them before the show, but I liked them. The story was engaging. It mostly revolved around a man named Tully who lived on the island and  a woman named Rachel who came there for a visit. The costumes were really pretty especially the dresses that Rachel wore. The set was nice. It made me feel like it was an actual island. Even in the lobby of  the theater it was all decorated with beach chairs and surfboards and things that made it seem like it was a beach. That was really  cool!. It really got me excited to see the show. People who like Jimmy Buffett music or people  who like musicals set on tropical islands or anyone who loves a good and funny musical would enjoy this show.

Mom - Escape to Margaritaville is a perfectly named musical. The show is a great escape. If you just want to get away from your troubles and relax for a while, this rollocking upbeat musical is a good choice. The show is based around Jimmy Buffett songs although there is a plot, and it is not biographical. The plot is rather light and fluffy and there are aspects of the ending that seemed kind of farfetched but mostly the show is  a whole lot of fun. If you're a fan of romance, you will enjoy this show because not only is the sweet romantic story of Tully and Rachel, at its center but there are several other subplots involving cute romantic stories as well. This is not a good show for young children because of some of the subject matter, However, it is fine for teens. This is not a show that is going to solve any of the worlds problems or even point them out. However, if you just want to have a good time, listen to (and maybe even sing-along a little) to some fun music, and watch an enjoyable story for a  couple hours, this show fits the bill perfectly, and sometimes, that's enough.
