I started this blog with one daughter, kept it up with the other, to spend time together doing something we enjoyed.
However, things change and people evolve. My daughters are older, busier, and not as interested in writing.
From now on this blog will be mostly mom with occasional contributions from my daughters and maybe even my husband.
Nothing else will change. We'll still focus on sharing fun places to go, fun things to do, and more, and we would  still love to hear your views too

3) A Letter to Lyndon Johnson or Whoever Reads This First

A Letter to Lyndon B. Johnson is an absurdist two-hander that blurs the line between 1960s boy scouts and drafted US soldiers in Vietnam. Two scouts tell stories directly to the audience, muddy-kneed and full of naivete, they embody everyone from their camp-mates to their fellow soldiers, all with the goal of making their hero, current president Lyndon B. Johnson, proud. Johnson was known for his involvement in sending young unwilling men to fight for their country in Vietnam, just as the origins of scouting come from preparing young people for military service. Xhloe and Natasha explore children’s relationship with war, innocence and nostalgia using their signature style of clowning, physical theatre and fast pace. Fitting with Xhloe and Natasha’s company ethos centered around queerness and gender identity, A Letter To Lyndon B. Johnson or God: Whoever Reads This First reflects on the androgyny allowed to young boys and the volatility of the transition into masculine manhood.

5) Trophy Boys

Feminism has failed women.” That is the prompt given to the debate team of an elite all-boys prep school one hour before the final match of their high school careers. As they develop compelling arguments to demolish their sister school, a "rumor" leaks about their team that threatens to blow up everything they have worked for. What begins as a riotously funny satire turns into a sharp exploration of power and privilege, from high school to the highest circles of political influence.

20) 2025 TONY® AWARD NOMINEE

FOR BEST MUSICAL

“OPERATION MINCEMEAT

AND SONY MASTERWORKS BROADWAY

RELEASES

LIVE VERSION OF SHOWSTOPPER

“DEAR BILL”

AVAILABLE NOW! LISTEN HERE

Operation Mincemeat and Sony Masterworks Broadway today released a special live recording of “Dear Bill,” the breakout Broadway showstopper hailed by Vulture as “the best new song on Broadway.” Captured live at London’s Fortune Theatre, the release is in celebration of the Olivier Award®-winning Best Musical’s four Tony Award® nominations: Best MusicalBest Book, Best Original Score, and Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Olivier Award® winner Jak Malone, who delivers the powerful ballad as MI5 secretary Hester Leggatt.

Inspired by a real letter written by Leggatt in WWII, “Dear Bill” tells the story of a heartfelt message to a fictional lover—placed on a corpse as part of a top-secret British intelligence ruse. While the mission has long been credited to agents Ewen Montagu (played by Natasha Hodgson) and Charles Cholmondeley (played by David Cumming), the musical shines a spotlight on Leggatt’s previously unsung role. Since the show’s debut, fans have unearthed Leggatt’s true identity—officially recognised by MI5 in 2023. This rediscovery culminated in the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the Fortune Theatre, attended by over 1,000 fans. To mark the occasion, Sony originally released the “Dear Bill” live recording as a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl on International Women’s Day last year, which sold out instantly.

Since then, “Dear Bill” has become one of the most talked-about moments of the Broadway season and became the fastest-growing, most-streamed track on the cast album over the past month. Produced, arranged, orchestrated, and with musical direction by Grammy Award® winner Steve Sidwell (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), the song is written and composed by SpitLip —Cumming, Felix Hagan, Hodgson, and Zoë Roberts.

“Dear Bill” Live From the Fortune Theatre, is available now – listen here.

This release follows Malone’s performance of the track on NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show last week — available to watch here.

7) NEW PERFORMANCE WORK/ EXHIBIT
Presented June 6–8, 2025 alongside the exhibition, Soft/Cover
The Fabric Workshop and Museum, 1214 Arch Street

The Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM) is pleased to announce Noise See and In Two, two new performance works by Chicago-based visual artist and choreographer Brendan Fernandes (b. 1979, Kenya). Coinciding with the exhibition, Soft/Cover, the series of performances takes place Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8 in simultaneous presentations across FWM’s second and eighth floor galleries.

Fernandes, who identifies as multinational and queer, has written these choreographic scores in exploration of the visibility and invisibility of queer bodies. Developed during the artist’s FWM residency, the new works feature dancers engaged in acts of hide and seek and of bodily transformation through interaction with a set of curtains, soft sculptures, and costumes created with the FWM Studio team as part of the artist’s residency.

Noise See
Second Floor Gallery

In Noise See, Fernandes debuts a new live performance commissioned by The Fabric Workshop and Museum that investigates themes of visibility, protest, the legacy of empire, and embodied resistance. Central to the work are vibrant quilted tapestries crafted as costumes, made in collaboration with the FWM Studio. These textiles of vivid red and blue plaid recall dress that is commonly associated with contemporary Maasai culture in Kenya yet rooted in British colonial influence. Performed as a duet, two dancers engage in a choreographic dialogue—merging and separating, concealing and revealing—through their bodily interaction with one another and their own biomorphic form as they inhabit their costume. The performers activate the double-sided tapestries throughout the space, evoking their transformation into blankets, shields, protest banners, cloaks, second skins, and sculptural forms. These dynamic textiles become agents of action, shaping and being shaped by the dancers' movements.
Noise See reclaims a colonial textile legacy and transforms it into a site of protest, protection, and presence. Here, Fernandes insists that silence is not absence but a resonant and radical form of resistance.

In Two
Eighth Floor Gallery

Commissioned by the Pulitzer Arts Foundation in 2024, Fernandes worked in collaboration with FWM’s Studio team to create an installation of curtains and soft sculptures to accompany an exhibition of the work of the artist Scott Burton (1939–1989) on view at the Pulitzer from September 6, 2024–February 2, 2025. In a series of duets titled In Two, Fernandes has written dance scores that take Burton’s furniture sculptures as a point of departure to explore the duality of display and concealment in gay cruising culture—ideas that Burton had pursued throughout his career. Fernandes integrates specific gestures—“flip the wrist,” “clasp arm to the breast”—directly from Burton’s choreographic notes.

Taking inspiration from Window Curtains, a work in FWM’s collection that Burton created during his own FWM residency in 1978, Fernandes worked with the FWM Studio to create a new set of curtains to be activated by his choreographed performances. Screenprinted on cotton muslin, the curtains feature flesh, steel gray, and blush-colored fingerprints left on a phone screen. For the artist, these smudges are suggestive of texting or swiping left or right in dating apps—a digital form of cruising. Soft Touch I and Soft Touch II, a pair of soft sculptures designed by Fernandes to resemble polished stone, complement and contrast with Burton’s hard materials. Using images of actual Burton benches, the FWM Studio team created the surface of these stuffed artworks through a digital printing process on cotton canvas. In performances of In Two—first presented at the Pulitzer in 2024 and now making its East Coast debut at FWM—dancers use the curtains and soft sculptures as props as they oscillate between concealing themselves and seeking one another.

Pride Block Party, 12:00pm to 7:00pm
Pride Rave, 8:00pm to Midnight
Evil Genius Beer Company, 1727 N. Front Street

Evil Genius Beer Company is going all out to celebrate Pride Month this June. Stop by their Fishtown taproom on June 7th for a day full of Pride Cheer including a block party featuring LGBTQIA+ makers from 12-7pm and a Pride Rave later that evening from 8 to midnight. The Philadelphia based brewery is also re-releasing their charity brew exclusively at their taproom. This strawberry blonde ale dubbed “#LoveisLove'' is set to be re-released this Pride Month and helps raise funds for The Trevor Project, a national LGBTQIA+ community program.

At the heart of their Pride festivities is #LoveisLove, a strawberry blonde ale that benefits the Trevor Project with every pint. The 6.0% ABV beer begins with a simple malt base of pale malts and wheat before being delicately hopped with Warrior Hops. Then the Philadelphia-based brewers hit it with just the right amount of natural strawberry flavor to produce a crisp, clean, and easy-drinking beer that’s perfect for the warm, summer weather. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of #LoveisLove will be donated to The Trevor Project, a national, charitable  organization that provides resources to at-risk LGBTQIA+ youth. This year the beer will be available exclusively at their Philadelphia taproom.

The beer will be released as a focal point of their upcoming Pride Block Party on Saturday, June 7th from 12-7pm outside their taproom located on the 1700 Block of North Front Street in Fishtown. The event boasts tons of happenings for attendees on top of the beer release including Pride anthems spun by their house DJ. The event will feature a line-up of Philly’s best LGBTQIA+ creators offering artwork, vintage goods, and other handmade items. Of course, Evil Genius will be offering fresh pints from their outdoor beer tent and a food truck will be in attendance to satisfy your hunger. The event is no charge as well as family and pet friendly so be sure to bring the whole crew out for the day.

After the block party Evil Genius will be hosting a 21+ Pride Rave inside their taproom. The Rave will take place from 9 to midnight. Their taproom will be decked out in Pride Decor, black lights, and more to fit the vibe. Themed cocktails and specialty shots will be available for purchase on top of their regularly available beer menu. A DJ will be performing live until midnight.
