Tips for Tuesday - Books: The Porcelain Maker & Are You Gonna Eat That? & Misc.: Gatsby Chocolate

We may have been given complimentary copies and/or access for review purposes to any books, products, and/or any other visual or audio media mentioned below. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

Books: The Porcelain Maker & Are You Gonna Eat That?

Today we are talking about The Porcelain Maker by Sarah Freethy. This book alternates between the World War II era story of star-crossed lovers, Bettina and Max, a Gentile and a Jew respectively striving to be together in a world that wants to keep them apart and the present day story of Clara and her daughter, Lotte searching for the truth of Clara's heritage. The story is quite engaging and keeps the reader's interest throughout. The main characters of Bettina and Max are quite admirable in their courage and bravery and their devotion to each other and what they believe in. Neither the character of Clara nor Lotte is all that developed. The secondary characters in the book are all very one-sided. They are either completely likable or not at all likable. The love story is extremely touching,  however, in the end, there is too much sadness throughout the book and not enough payoff in the conclusion to be satisfying.

Today we are talking about Are You Gonna Eat That? by Jimmy Craig. This book is a collection of Craig's comics about the inner thoughts of animals. However, it is very hit or miss. Some of the selections are extremely funny and often very relatable, especially to owners of a particular kind of pet. Others don't really make any sense at all. Nevertheless, on the whole, it is a very quick and fun book to read, and we would recommend it.

Misc.: Gatsby Chocolate

Today we are talking about Gatsby Chocolate. This product, a recent Shark Tank selection, is touted as a lower-calorie alternative to traditional chocolate brands as it has less sugar and carbs than other brands. It is available in four different flavors Fudge Brownie, Almond Dark Chocolate, Sea Salt Extra Dark, and Cookies and Cream, all of which are vegan and gluten-free except for Cookies and Cream. However, the only flavor we were able to sample to facilitate this post was the Almond Dark Chocolate which has a sharply bitter taste.

Gatsby Chocolate is available at Walmart but cannot be purchased online.

And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Where-To-Go Wednesday.
