Where-To-Go Wednesday - Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation

We were given complimentary admission to the Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own.

The American Museum of Natural History's Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation is an amazing expansive new facility dedicated to learning, discovering, and exploring every aspect of our natural world. It consists of six floors above the ground as well as one below. Four of the six floors are open to the public. 

The Gilder Center brings the entire museum together in a more cohesive way and not just figuratively. It actually creates new connections that bring all the different areas of the museum together and eliminates the annoying dead ends that had previously existed.  There is even a brand new museum entrance on the West side of the building at Columbus Avenue and 79th St.

The Center includes a number of exciting new exhibition galleries. There is an Insectarium where you can see a giant replica of a honeycomb, view live bug specimens, learn about the important role insects play in our ecosystem, and more. There is a Butterfly Vivarium where you can not only see a variety of different species of live butterflies, but you can learn about the lifecycle of butterflies, and more as well. The Invisible Worlds immersive experience lets you see things you normally would not be able to see like the human brain. 

The facility also has several areas dedicated to research and/or more formal learning.  They include a vast library full of books related to the museum's many collections and eighteen state-of-the-art classrooms. All in all, the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation is a fun and informative place to immerse yourself in science.
