When: This event took place from Friday, July 8 - Sunday, July 10

After going virtual in 2021, BroadwayCon was back live this year and while we wouldn't say it was better than ever it was definitely enjoyable. Despite having to wait an extra 6 months for it to happen, having to wear masks throughout the event, and having to deal with a location where the main event space required a wait for one of two tiny elevators or a walk up or down seven flights of stairs among other things, overall the event was as mostly as fun and entertaining as ever.

As a special treat, this year attendees were treated to a visit from our former First Lady, former Secretary of State, and the woman who should have been our most recent President, Hilary Clinton. She moderated a panel of legendary Broadway women which included Julie White, Vanessa Williams, Donna Murphy, and LaChanze. Other highlights of the festival included Anthony Rapp getting the full BroadwayCon experience in about five minutes, the attendance of one of the real Kevins from Come From Away, and a very strange game of Family Feud Are there really people who claim to be theater fans who think that Send in the Clowns is the name of a show or that Sutton Foster was one of the many Elphabas in Wicked? It was hilarious to see what crazy wrong information would show up on the answer board next.

This year's show panels included ones on Beetlejuice, POTUS, and two on Six as well as panels highlighting Understudies, Journalism, Directors, and more. You could learn about Broadway puppetry, meet some Broadway TikTokers, or join a fan meetup singalong and that is only a small sampling of the fascinating and fun panels available to participate in over the course of the three-day festival. There were also plenty of BroadwayCon favorites like the cosplay contest, the lip sync contest, game night, and the BroadwayCon Blizzard line.  On the whole, it was a joyful weekend for all and so good to be totally immersed in everything Broadway with fellow fans again. We all missed it!

In case you missed out on the fun this year and want to be a part of it next year, you may want to know that it has already been announced that next year's BroadwayCon will once again be in the summer, but at a different venue that will be announced at a later date. And that's our view. Tune in tomorrow for Tips for Tuesday.
