The Bronx Babe is the story of a bi-racial girl growing up in New York City in the 1970s as told by the woman who lived it, Sonny Marie Lee. It is mostly a typical story of friendships and first kisses and more although Ms. Lee's life also includes experiences that many theatergoers may not have had like beat-down fights and thieving so-called friends. While her life is somewhat interesting, what really invigorates this tale are the frequent dance breaks. Every once in a while a relevant snatch of a popular 70s  song plays and Ms. Lee and her co-performer, Briana Mendez break out into dance. The pure joy the performers display in these moments really gives the show a jolt of energy and makes it different and a little more enjoyable than the usual one-person biographical play. These moments also make the show a great nostalgia trip for anyone who also grew up in the 1970s and a treat for anyone who loves the music of the 70s whether they grew up then or not.

And that's our view. Tune in Sunday for this week's Sunday Scoop.
