Mom's view: The Burke Prize is a $50,000 grant awarded yearly by the Museum of Arts and Design to an artist of age forty- five or younger working mostly with clay, glass, fiber, wood or metals.  The work of the winner of this year's Burke prize, Indira Allegra as well as the work of this year's other finalists is currently on display in the museum. The artists represented in this exhibit come from a wide variety of different backgrounds and their work and what they are hoping to represent with their work varies greatly as well. While it is interesting to just walk around and view the vast array of incredible artwork on display, if you really want to immerse yourself in the exhibit, you will want to pick up  the large brochure regarding the display available at the exhibit which will give you more background about the artists. The information in the brochure includes who the artists are, where they are from, what they are hoping to accomplish through their work and more. The brochure really adds to the whole experience of the exhibit. However, even if you don't choose to look at the brochure at all, it is still quite an interesting exhibit.

And that's Mom's view. For more about the 2019 Burke Prize exhibit at the Museum of Arts and Design, visit https://madmuseum.org/exhibition/burke-prize-2019.

Tune in tomorrow for Theater Thursday.
