What: Sweet Charity

Where: The Rose Nagelberg Theater
              55 Lexington Ave.
              New York, NY

When: This event took place Friday June 1 - Sunday June 3

Me - Sweet Charity is a show about a girl named Charity. She has a lot of bad luck, but she keeps on being optimistic. I liked the show. The songs were good. Even though some of them are well known I never heard any of them before. They are definitely songs I would want to listen to again. The story was interesting. The end was kind of sad. I prefer shows with happier endings. The performers did a nice job. They were all teenagers. The singing and dancing were all really good too. Sweet Charity was a good show. Although this show has ended, I would recommend going to other Broadway Workshop performances in the future.

Mom - We recently had the opportunity to attend Broadway Workshop's production of Sweet Charity. The show which had a recent off Broadway revivial during the 2016/2017 season starring Sutton Foster, revolves around a a plucky dance hall hostess named Charity Hope Valentine who keeps getting knocked down by life, but remains eternally optmistic. It is isn't the most encouraging musical in the world. However, the characters are quirky and interesting and it is full of great songs including such well known songs as "Big Spender" and If They Could See Me Now." The Broadway Workshop kids did a nice job with the material. Their acting singing and dancing were all first rate. The actress who played Charity at the performance we attended (the show was double cast and each cast played two performances), Sadie Seelert got stronger in the role as the show went along in the end she showed a charm and sweetness in the role. All in all, it was a pleasant evening of theater.
