Mom's view: If you are a fan of magic and particularly of Harry Houdini, you won't want to miss the Houdini Museum of New York. This small museum is completely contained within Fantasma Magic and can be a bit difficult to find since the address is on 7th Avenue but the entrance to the building is on the side street. Despite its size, the museum has quite an extensive collection of Houdini memorabilia include costumes, props and other items Houdini used for performing some of his most famous tricks as well as pictures letters and more. Lots of contemporary magicians have been know to hang out here, and if you're lucky one might even perform a trick or two for you. This is not a good museum for small children as there are no interactive exhibits or things for them to touch or other things that will hold their interest. Also, some of the exhibits might be frightening for young children like a lifelike model of Houdini escaping from a straitjacket. The museum is free and open Monday through Friday from 10-6 and Saturday and Sunday from 10-5.

And that's Mom's view. Tune in to tomorrow 's Theater Thursday for a review of an Off Off Broadway show related to Houdini.
You just gave me a Christmas idea. I have a 10 year old nephew who loves magic. Matter of fact I got him a magic kit for Christmas. Maybe I can also bring him to the city.
