Where-To-Go Wednesday - Tada! Youth Theater's Production of The Trial of Alice in Wonderland

We were given free tickets to Tada! Youth Theater 's production of The Trial of Alice In Wonderland for review purposes. Any and all opinions expressed here are our own based on our experience.

Our view: Whether your child wants to be involved in the theater or just be an audience member, Tada! Youth Theater is the place to go. Tada! now in it's 30th year gives kids of all ages the opportunity to learn about all aspects of musical theater as well as act in full scale theatrical productions. The shows are open to the public so if you just want to watch a show you can do that too. Don't think that just because the shows are performed completely by kids, doesn't mean the productions are first rate because they certainly are. The shows performed might not be ones you've ever seen before. Some of the shows are twists on well-known tales while others are completely original. The current production of The Trial of Alice in Wonderland, for instance, focuses mostly on a small portion of the familiar story although it does touch on other parts of the story as well. Although this is not a strictly Disney version of the story with the familiar songs from the animated movie, this production is very enjoyable. The acting and singing are all good. The songs are enjoyable even if not necessarily memorable. The kids must have a great group of adults supporting them behind the scenes because the sets, costumes, make-up and all other aspects of the production are great. There is  even a little bit of special effects including a realistic looking rain shower. However, it's the kids who are actually out there on that stage, and they don't disappoint.  You can almost forget your watching a group of kids perform except for one thing, these kids show a joy and exuberance for performing that older performers often seem to lose. Acting is not a job to them; it's a passion, and it shows.
