We love our pets. Over half of American households own at least one. A new exhibit at the New York Historical celebrates these beloved family members.

Numerous paintings, sculptures, and more depict our furry, feathery, and other types of animal companions.  The exhibit also includes pictures, documents, memorabilia, and more.

Learn about working animals like seeing-eye dogs and bomb-sniffing dogs. See how we pamper our pets with pet taxis, pet cafes, pet Halloween costumes, and more. other topics include pet history and pet portraits.

You can check out how pets are portrayed in popular culture including in games, toys, TV, and movies. You can even watch clips of pets in famous movies and TV shows like Friends. You can also read about the founding of the Bide A Wee Home for Animals, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty, Broadway Barks, and more. Whether you actually have a pet of your own or not, if you love animals you will enjoy this delightful and appealing exhibit.
