Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal’s 54 Below concert made for a highly entertaining evening! The pair, best known for their roles as Mark and Roger, respectively, in Rent covered a range of songs from the 90s, some of them popular radio hits and others less widely known, as well as a selection of songs from Rent. Both Rapp and Pascal remain as talented as they were back in the decade the songs came from and it was a pleasure to hear them sing both solos and duets. What really made the performance special, however, was the duo’s chemistry. Rapp and Pascal have been friends for decades, and it truly shows in the way they interact. They complement each other both musically and generally and their combined stage presence exuded comfort and familiarity, as if the performers and audience alike were simply passing time among friends. Whether you enjoy hearing original cast members from Rent bring some of the soundtrack back to life, listening to stories and memories from Rapp’s and Pascal’s lives, or just watching two people who clearly enjoy each other’s company perform together, I would highly recommend spending a night with Rapp and Pascal when and if they are in concert again.
